2016

Today we are diving into the year 2016!

Downton-abbey-s6-how-will-it-end-11

Series 6 is the final series of the romantic-drama show, Downton Abbey. It premiered in the UK on ITV Sunday September 20, 2015, and premiered in the US on PBS January 3, 2016.

The United States presidential election kept us all on the edge of our seats for months.

Rio-olympics

The Summer Olympics in Rio brought a much-needed diversion from the election madness, despite dealing with its own share of scandals. Team USA medaled 121 times, while 19 world records and 65 Olympic records were broken during the two-and-a-half-week event.

Tulip Time – Nothing says spring like seeing the first tulips peek through the ground, bringing with them hope for the coming spring when life is new and fresh! Enjoy this flower favorite in your stamping projects with the Tulip Time Stamp Set. The multi-step images will add pretty shading and bountiful color to your stamped images. Use them to create stunning focal points or backgrounds. Try your hand at layering them over a watercolor background for a pretty, artistic touch. A couple of butterflies and a handful of sentiments in the prettiest of script fonts finish off the set.

Betsy says, "Working as a floral designer for 12 years, I became pretty familiar with many different flowers, which comes in pretty handy when illustrating them for stamp designs. The Tulip Time set is one that I'm probably most proud of in terms of illustration, plus it's fun to stamp!  I think it's safe to say that it became a favorite for many of you as well.  With spring approaching I was excited to pull it out again for today's project!"

Scherenschnitte, which means “scissor cuts” in German, is the art of intricate paper cutting. Now you can easily capture a similar look in your own paper crafting with the Paper Clippings series of stamps and dies. The Paper Clippings: Love Story stamp set includes an oversized sentiment and a gorgeous multi-step book image that will take center stage on special cards and projects for weddings, anniversaries, and more! Pair the stamps with the coordinating die, which is sized to fill a standard card front, or use them on their own to create stunning stamped focal points on your cards and projects. The beautiful book image would also pair perfectly with many of the other “book” themed items already in the Papertrey line of products!

Tulip Time is my favorite stamp set from 2016, though I don’t use it nearly enough. I haven’t gotten the color combinations right. I also really love the Be set and the Bold and Beautiful Sentiments set. I’d still really like a second round of that font.

Looking through the list of releases, I also have many of the Splits, with more on my wish list. The Woodblock Prints set makes some beautiful designs, and I have many other stamps, either purchased or on my wish list.

Thank you for this look back. It’s been great to take a look at past projects and be inspired all over again. PTI is my favorite stamp company. Some favorite flowers: Tulip Time, Floral Sketches, Painted Petal, Bloomin’ Cute, Bold Blossoms, Be (love the little flower, so sweet). What The Doodle series because, well, they are just fun. Split series makes for quick, CAS cards, especially of men. Inspired series are so uplifting and inspirational. Simply Spring Borders cute Easter set. Paper Clipping series unlike anything else I own. Holiday Greens because I love anything with greenery. This does not even touch the fabulous sentiment sets that were released in 2016.

What a wonderful trip through the first ten years of PTI. Uncomparable inspiration, month after month. 2016 was the year of reorganizing how I store my stamps, necessitated by the number of PTI stamps I now own, by my count, 868 of the 1280 PTI sets. 2017 will be the year I get inky with more of them. Sadly I only own one of the sets featured today – Painted Petals, which I love! The other sets from 2016 which are high on my MUST HAVE list are Tulip Time, Peonies on Parade and Just Desserts.
