Celebrating the Past, Present and Future: 2009

February 13, 2017      Nichole Heady      238 Comments

2009

2009 was a year full of memorable headline news…

In April of this exciting year British television viewers watched a middle-aged Scottish woman astonish a live audience (and difficult-to-impress judge Simon Cowell) with a rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" on Britain's Got Talent. Days later, YouTube users in the U.S. and elsewhere around the world wept for joy at Susan Boyle's storybook success of the simple woman with the bushy eyebrows and crystal-clear voice.

Eclipse

The longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century, lasting up to 6 minutes and 38.8 seconds, occurs over parts of Asia and the Pacific Ocean.

Michael-jackson

The death of the "King of Pop", Michael Jackson, brings worldwide outpourings of grief. He is considered one of the most successful entertainers of all time. His career began in 1964 as the lead singer and youngest member of The Jackson 5. His 1982 album Thriller remains the best-selling album of all time.

Sully

It took Captain Chesley (Sully) Sullenberger less than five minutes to become a hero. On Jan. 15, Sullenberger saved the lives of all 155 passengers aboard the U.S. Airways Airbus A320 he was flying. After birds hit the engines of Flight 1549 less than two minutes after takeoff and the plane lost power, the former Air Force pilot cooly told passengers to "brace for impact" and landed the aircraft in the Hudson River.

Papertrey Ink expanded it's product design team that year as well, bringing lots of new energy and talent that all of the customers loved!

Damask Designs makes creating your own damask patterns a breeze. You can either use the long strip stamps to create quick and easy background patterns or you can build your own patterns by utilizing the single stamps. Use them right side up or flip some of them upside down for even more possibilities!

Present

2009 Dawn

Dawn says, "Damask Designs holds a special place in my heart as it's the first stamp set I ever designed back in 2008.  It came out in the February Anniversary release in 2009 and I was soooo nervous and excited!  Many of you fell in love with the set and used it as much as I did!  I have always loved being able to create my own custom backgrounds and this set allows you to do just that.  With the addition of new tools over the years, like the MISTI, it makes it even easier to try out fun techniques with old and new sets alike!  I had a lot of fun adding a bit of an ombre flare to my beloved damask!  Come see!"

2009 was a great year for PTI! I have so many favorites-
Friends til the End- that daisy! Still such a gorgeous and classic image to use, love it as unfilled line art or coloured in with markers, watercolour, etc.
Scattered Showers- This is my go-to set for bridal showers, definitely one of the best umbrella sets out there!
Star Prints- I am obsessed with all things stars, and I love this set for masculine cards.
Cupcake Collection- love this set when I’m in the mood for a food themed birthday card.
Fruitful- I bring this set out often- the citrus image is my favorite. It’s nice to see this one featured today.

It is so fun looking back at the different years and seeing all the beautiful sets.

Life is probably one of my very favorite sets. Love the clean and simple, to very elegant you can do with this set. And, Tree Trimmings is still one of my most loved Christmas sets. But there are so many great sets from that year. All the tag sets are wonderful and I still enjoy playing with those. The newer Polka Dot Basics, which I love and use them all.

So many of the older sets have gone to the vault, so I would be hard pressed to get rid of anything for fear I would miss it too much and have to repurchase! If I did get rid of anything, it would have to be something that I just could not make work for me.:)

As I was going through the 2009 release, I have a number of stamp sets from that year, making it hard to choose a favorite!! I really love the Signature Greetings and Signature Christmas stamp sets – Love the Handwriting and they feel timeless to me! I also really love the Button Bits stamp set and own the everyday button bits set – I have so many beautiful buttons and do not use them enough – This set makes it so easy! Any chance PTI will bring the Blooming Button Bits out of the vault? Please! 🙂

I think it’s perfect for so many reasons. It’s great for someone after surgery, “Rest Relax Recover” which is true and a fun play on words. It is hard to choose from all of the lovely sets that came out in 2009 but my #1 favorite is “Love Lives Here”!

As I read through these wonderful posts it drives home how truly incredible the PTI designs are. Their elegance and timelessness is phenomenal. They truly do stand the test of time in their beauty and appeal. I remember being so happy when I found your company’s products for the first time. It was the first time I ever ordered a craft product on line and I have never regretted it and still own every set I have ever purchased. Thanks Nichole and all for all you do to make stamping classy and fun! 🙂
