Welcome, everyone to the official kick-off of Stamp-a-faire 2016! I know some of you are waking up at 4am on the west coast (or even earlier across the pond) this morning to join us!
While doing research for this year I stumbled across several inspirational “masters”, which I will be sharing with you throughout the day today. This morning I am starting with Sargam Griffin. Even though she is talking about painting in this short video, she explains beautifully how I think we all feel about creativity and how it feeds our souls! Enjoy!
Isn’t she amazing? Now, are you ready for your first challenge?
We are providing you with 9 color schemes to choose from! There are so many stunning color combinations that can be found in famous masterpieces from throughout history. Now you can create a masterpiece of your own using the colors these great painters have already put together. You can use the graphics below to make your choice, or you can download them in a printer-friendly format to add to your binder HERE.
Your challenge is to pick one color scheme to whip up a quick project you can be proud of! A great way to warm-up for all of the stamping that lies ahead! So put on some of your favorite stamping tunes (something peppy to get you moving, you know?), grab your cup of coffee AND LET’S GET STARTED!!!
—Create your own project utilizing one of the color schemes of your choice from above. Your project must also incorporate at least one Papertrey product.
–Or use this as another opportunity to share links to photos, videos or blog posts of you arriving at your destination, how your day is starting, your set-up, the group of people you may have getting together or anything else regarding the kick-off of Stamp-a-faire day!
–Post your project and/or SAF morning photos on your blog, in your gallery or on any other photo-hosting site (such as photobucket or flickr).

I am joining today’s events from the State of Washington. I am not artistic, therefore I am looking forward to learning painting techniques that I can use in my card creations. I adore the water coloring I see on other individual’s cards and hope I can master it as well.

Wow already! I love the opening video of Sargam and I live just 10 miles from Healdsburg! The color schemes combined with the artwork is very inspiring. I’m just back from 5 days on the east coast & I live in Oregon. Planned that I’d return in time for SAF which I’ll be doing solo. Can’t wait to get back to creating, although I’ll take breaks to cuddle & walk the puppy dog who missed me as much as I missed him it would appear! Love the video–she is indeed amazing & inspiring! I was awake enough last night to print the color recipes, so grabbing another cup of coffee & off I go! I’m most excited about the challenge with gold leafing. Hi all, I’m in rural Penhook, VA. I’m going solo today (which I actually prefer),since stamping friends are hard to find in these parts. However, I’m not starting off well due to issues with my Internet connection this morning and that’s making me a little crazy. I participated last year and had such a fun day I couldn’t resist participating this year as well. I enjoy the “classes” and the challenge to learn and create along throughout the day. My family (near and far) has been warned that today is MY day to create so (please) leave me alone today.

I’m a PTI fan from beautiful Washington state. Unfortunately, I have an editing project due Tuesday, so I’m working this weekend instead of getting to stamp–but I’m definitely going to watch the videos and try the techniques after the fact. I’m excited about Heather’s pointillism and the gilding and the layered embossing–and everything really.
