I grew up on a beach – Umina Beach in NSW, Australia. It is where I learnt to swim, walked every day for years, fell in love, teach my kids & said goodbye to my best friend. Not only is it beautiful, but it has been a part of so many of my memories – and so, even though I have visited so many beautiful beaches in the world, they cannot compare to home.

Twilight Beach in Esperance Western Australia. The sand is white and squeeky clean, the shore is nice and protected, there’s a rock made for jumping into water, and best of all, its not inundated with people even though its only 15 minutes out of town.

The thriving beach in Nice, France immediately comes to mind as it’s so BUSY and alive, but a recent trip to Nevis had me falling in love with their beautiful scenery!

  • 65

My favorite has been Ormond-by-the Sea in Florida. I think it may have been the circumstances of the vacation more than anything else. It was the perfect QUIET and relaxing vacation just for my little family of four. The beach was not crowded and my young children just roamed with wonder. It was the perfect place to visit and there’s a chance we may go back again.

I haven’t spent more time on a beach than to take a walk up and down it as a rest stop on a family trip, but there is a cross stitch retreat in Florida with the hotel right on the ocean that I think would be really fun to attend. • 80
    adele says:

I live a short drive from Florida’s lovely Juno Beach, but the best part is the North end of the beach where dogs are allowed off leash. Although my own pup is wary of the water, it is a lot of fun to watch spaniels, retrievers, labs and a plethora of other breeds romping in the waves, having the time of their lives.

I see someone mentioned Navarre, where my son lived when he was in the Air Force. Those white sand beaches are simply beautiful!

  • 81
    Iris Shubert says:

I’ve been to Panama City beach twice. The part God created was beautiful. I’ve been to the beach off the coast of North Carolina when my husband was stationed at Camp LeJeune. God did a beautiful job there too 🙂

The long white sandy beach was soft, warm and sprinkled with beautiful little white shells. My daughter and I had a great time walking, paddling and collecting shells. The new set is just fabulous.

  • 85

The beach surrounding Mont St. Michel in Normandy in France. The regal and interesting Mountain emerges in a vast island of sand flats that have treacherous areas of quicksand hidden in their midst. It seems like something from a fairy tale.

  • 96
    Charity Chamberlain says:

Let’s see, being I live in Florida I have been to a ton of beaches and I actually have loved them all, so it’s hard to pick just one. I’m going to have to say though that there is one beach in particular that holds a special place in my heart and it is located in the Naples/Marco Island area. When ever I go there I always see Dolphins, tons of other sealife animals, as well as its a beach where you can fish right from the sand or water. It’s also such a peaceful beach because it’s in a remote location so there are hardly any people there. Thank you for the opportunity to win and also for another outstanding release!

  • 102
    Debbie Archer says:

Ocean Isle Beach, NC. For years we vacationed there with our children and always stayed in the same cottage. We have great memories of walking the beach, playing in the surf and games of mini golf at night. The cottage was built when the island was first being developed, and was situated so that you could view the ocean from the covered porch. We spent a great deal of time on that porch, having coffee there in the mornings and dessert in the evening.

  • 103
    Diana K says:

I have two very favourites, but I think that Moorea wins by a smidgen. The water. Enough said. Crane Beach in Barbados comes in second for its drama.

Terrigal beach, central coast. A lot of good memories. As always a great release. Thank you.

My favorite beach is Foster Beach, one of Chicago’s many beaches. It may not be the most beautiful in the world, but it was a great place to get away from the hot city sidewalks. I could hear the small waves lapping the shore as I drifted off to sleep. My best ever beach in the world was filled with wonderful memories, sand castles, minnows, laughter and happy family days.

For my 40th, we took a family cruise to the bahamas. The beaches there were amazing… as was the water. My favorite excursion was the kayaking trip that lead to a walk through a part of the island onto a private beach for a picnic and playing on the beach. The water was a mix between Hawaiian Shores and Tropical Teal and the sand was so soft! We go to Hawaii next year for our 20th anniversary… as I understand it, those beaches may rival the Bahama beaches!

As a child, our family spent a week every summer in Destin, Florida. In those day, there were no condos or hotels lining the beaches, only pristine, sugar sand and the bluest water. Now we go to Perdido Key, Florida because it’s not so crowded and family oriented. I still love the Florida panhandle beaches for it’s white sand.

My childhood memories take me (way) back to Wasaga Beach, near Collingwood, Ontario.
The water was so clear, you could literally walk out a mile on a sandy bottom. The beach was so wide they used to drive cars on it. Our friends raised St. Bernard dogs and I was so small I could ride one of them “Nellie” down to the beach and she’d go right in the water with me.
Fabulous memories of times with parents, although both gone now, and two older brothers. Thanks for jogging my memory of those times gone by.

I’ve only been to a few beaches…. Ocean City, NJ, Cancun, and the beach in Florida where we took our honeymoon. I loved them all for sentimental reasons. The beach in OC was the first beach we took our kiddos to. The Cancun beach was my first real vacation as an adult. And the beach in Florida, though it was really not a great beach, I loved because it was the first beach I went to with my husband. Truth be told, I’m not much for going in the water at the beach. But I love the IDEA of the beach, combined with a nice clear, jellyfish-free swimming pool, hahahaa….

My favorite beach isn’t an ocean beach, it’s Presque Isle State Park in Erie, PA. It’s close enough that I can drive there for a day and still come home to take care of my dog. After a stressful year of teaching, I look forward to simply sitting on the beach, watching the waves, the gulls, the boats, and just letting the water heal my soul. At the end of the day, a trip to Sara’s for a vanilla-orange twist cone puts a period to a wonderful day.

I’m not much of a beach person. I am more relaxed and moved by majestic mountains, but I do need to sit on a beach every few years just for a day or two to get my smell of salt water and wave sounds. I like beaches that aren’t crowded with people and that is hard to find these days. I have never been to the Caribbean and would LOVE to spend some time on those white beaches with blue, blue water!

  • 265

I love the ocean, and growing up in North Carolina we went to many. The Outer Banks area was probably my favorite.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to visit many beaches throughout the USA from Kennebunkport, Maine all the way to Key West, FL on the east coast, from Point Reyes, CA down to San Diego, CA on th west coast and even a few along the Gulf Coast. The USA has some gorgeous beaches, and I would have a hard time calling just one my favorite.

There is a beach in Misti Fjords National Park near Ketchikan, Alaska where my husband and I spent the weekend falling in love before we were married. My favorite beach is Manzanita, Oregon! My grandparents bought a wonderful piece of land there and built a family cabin along the beach front many years ago – early 1960’s. I was raised on that beach – many long walks with my toes in the cold Pacific waters, collecting sea shells and watching magnificent storms come and go. The are has grown since my days as a little girl, but it still has my heart.

Rio del Mar beach in Aptos, CA. I grew up near there so many memories. For the past 10 years or more my parents would walk down to the “wall” and back (about a mile) several times a week. To see them walking, holding hands at 84 and 87, always reminded me how blessed I am to have such wonderful parents. They aren’t able to walk that far any longer (now 86 and 89), but they still hold hands when they go down.

And am lucky to have a multitude of beautiful and peaceful beaches within driving distance! The closest is just 10-15 minutes from home! So that is my favorite – Melmerby Beach, Nova Scotia!

While in the Navy I was stationed on Midway Island-a tiny island in the north pacific where the battle of Midway was fought during WWII. My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Seaside, OR; so we try to get back there at least once a year. Nothing can be wrong at the beach! It’s my favorite place to go! ?

Coronado island because it was the first beach my son visited and I’ve never seen a face light up quite like his did that day. We spent hours knee deep in water, waiting for the waves to knock us back. Every time the tide passed, he would squeal, “Again, again.” He never grew tired of it; nor did I.

I lived in Laguna Beach in southern California in the 1970’s and still dream of livening there again. I could see the ocean from my miniature apartment, if I stood on tip toes and there was no fog. The smell of the sea air, the sound of the surf, and the glorious views of the water as I drove to and from work filled my soul with joy – every single day – no matter the weather! And on moon lit nights a quick walk along the ocean/s edge in conversation with God released all the day’s weariness and left my heart filled with peace and well being. Thank you for prompting this wonderful memories.

Florida panhandle beaches – The Emerald Coast. Sugar white beaches, crystal clear waters. Pockets of Americana still existed along Highway 98 along with dozens of kitschy tourist attractions in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Ahh, the things of my childhood.

I’m not really much of a beach person. Playalinda Beach (part of the Canaveral National Seashore), near where I used to live in Florida, is beautiful as far as Florida beaches go (since it is Natl Seashore, there is no development, like condos). But I much prefer a coastline with rocky shores, like in Maine or Oregon.

My favorite beach to visit has always been the Santa Cruz beach in California. The reason I like it so much is that there is so much is that you can take small children there to play in the water because the surf is very calm. Santa Cruz has been my beach for my whole life (which is pushing over 60 years now!). When you are not playing in the water, you can go have yummy food to eat on the wharf! Thanks for the opportunity to win a great gift certificate!
