Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!

Hello Friend Floral Card

It's always fun to experiment with fresh color combos when there is a new color to play around with. I think this might be one of my new favorites:

New-favorite

Floral

I snuck in a little early peek of Dawn's new Floral Sketches set because it just felt like a good match for this color combo. I layered Melon Berry & Americana together and they look fabulous when paired up. Stormy Sea has the perfect tone to be matched up with these, as does Canyon Clay.

TIP: When you get your hands on a new ink color, experiment with different color combos on a piece of scarp cardstock using a small solid stamp. You never know when you will find your next favorite! It feels a bit less restrictive since you aren't committing to a full project.

Sentiment

I stamped the sentiment from Colorful words in Scarlet Jewel. For a fun twist, I filled in the centers of the letters with a gold paint pen. That little hint of shimmer really complements the color scheme. The "friend" companion sentiment was added with Smokey Shadow.

Down

Definitely one that could be recreated in other color schemes too!

Celebrate in a Big Way Card

Of course one of the big advantages to the new Colorful Words sentiments is that you can easily add multiple colors. I took full advantage of that with this project, incorporating an entire rainbow.

Background

I stamped the word "celebrate" repeatedly to fill the top 3/4 of the card front using Charcoal Palette ink. This was really easy to do and you could do it with any of the words in this set.

Sentiment

I selected one of the words towards the bottom to color in with Copic markers. A tiny bit of shimmer was added to them using a Gelly Roll pen. The companion sentiment was added in Smokey Shadow.

  • TIP: When you are coloring in small spaces like this with Copics, color from the inside of the area out, almost pushing the color outward as you work rather than the opposite. You will have more control and get cleaner results.

Down

I die-cut several stars using the Sweet Dreams: Pajama Patch die and colored them with the same Copics I used in the letters, allowing the colors to fade into one another.

Happy 4th of July Card

This little 4th of July creation came together pretty quickly and would be easy to mass produce for party invitations or just summer greetings.

Sentiment

I heat embossed the sentiment from Keep It Simple: Bless the USA with White Filigree Embossing Powder, then watercolored around it using a ZIG watercolor marker.

Star

I cut the stitching holes only star die from Sweet Dreams: Pajama Patches from the area around the sentiment, three times. Using red floss, I stitched the stars up providing a pretty contrast with the soft gray blue I picked out for the watercoloring portion.

Edges

I distressed the edges of the white cardstock layer by bending and folding, then rolling the paper through my fingers. Running your fingernail or distress tool around the edges can help a lot in the process too!

TIP: When doing distressing like this, try ripping small tears in the paper here and there and rolling those areas to the layers of the paper separate. When the top layer of the cardstock curls back slightly, you achieve a great distressed look.

Down

This was all mounted on a bright Pure Poppy card base.

Pjs

I have one last card for you today, this one using Sweet Dreams. We have an upcoming trip where we will be away from the kids overnight for a few nights and I wanted to create a few cards to leave behind for the sitter to give to Ethan at night. Bedtime and getting tucked in are important to Ethan, so I wanted him to see that even when I am away, it is important to me too!

Sentiment

The sentiment is stamped onto the kraft cardstock using Fresh Snow ink. I used a T1 Copic marker to outline the main phrase just a bit.

Love You Morning Noon and Night Card

The pjs were also stamped in Fresh snow and colored with Copics. I added a softness around the kraft layer by swiping my Fresh Snow ink pad around the edges. There are some great sentiments in Erin's set for projects like this, so it will be easy for me to make a small set of them.

I hope you have enjoyed all the creations that I have shared with you today!  So after all of that, what jumps out at you most?  Which goodies will you be putting to use in your own paper-crafting sessions first?  We would love to hear your initial thoughts on everything we introduced!  Please leave a comment on this post to tell us what you think of the new products and you will be eligible to win big!
