Is everyone hanging in there with us? I've been jamming out to our Spotify playlist all day and have been thinking about how many of you may be listening along with me! Nothing brings paper crafters together like a little "Uptown Funk" and "Beast of Burden"! Have you had a favorite tune pop up today? Or do you happen to be listening/watching something else today? Maybe you prefer to work in peace and quiet! Either way, it's time for another challenge!
See how the pros add embellished stick pins to their projects, as well as stamped and actual stitching. You'll be on pins and needles to try these fun techniques!
Melissa Phillips says, "Trinket pins are an inexpensive and very versatile embellishment. By versatile I mean that you can do so much with them, not only to dress them up themselves, but also to dress up your projects. Stack felt flowers or a couple of buttons together, insert your trinket pin through the centers, and you’ve got sweet, custom-made embellishments. Add a stamped tag to your card and attach it using your trinket pins, and you’ll always have a special, unique embellishment and hand-made accent. There are so many ways to use these fun, little items."
–Create a project featuring a stick pin. Incorporate some of the tips that Melissa mentioned throughout her video!
–Post your project on your blog, in your gallery or on any other photo-hosting site (such as photobucket or flickr). You can also link up here using Instagram!

Amy Sheffer says, "I learned to use a sewing machine as a young girl, and over the years have enjoyed sewing clothes, window treatments, costumes and more. Naturally, I was drawn to machine stitching on paper, too. Today I'll be sharing a fun metallic thread find with you, as well as sharing tips for stitching around circles and other shapes. I love the subtle texture stitching adds, and it doesn't have to be intimidating at all!"
–Your challenge is to incorporate machine stitching into a project. We'd love to see you use metallic thread if you have some! Don't let this intimidate you if you've never done it before! Just follow along with Amy's tips and have fun getting crafty!

Heather Nichols says, "Do you love all of the stitching that you see on projects that are done with a sewing machine or by hand? Sometimes doing stitching on your cards can seem overwhelming and it can take some time and your need to make sure that you have the supplies to do it! I am going to show you two different ways to add stitching details to your projects without having to pull out a needle or thread. And you probably already have the supplies on hand! You will be surprised at how easy the techniques are, but how much they add to your projects and how it looks like real stitching."
In Heather's first video, she shows you how to get a realistic look with your stamped stitches by using a shadow stamping technique.
In the second video heat embossing makes these stitches pop and have dimension like the real thing.
–Create a project that features some sort of stamped stitching. Have fun experimenting with the fun techniques Heather outlined in her videos!

Sorry, Amy, but machine stitching IS intimidating when you’ve lost your sewing machine’s instruction book. Just sayin’ 🙂

Nobody does shabby chic like Melis. But, the machine stiching is cool, too!

The first time I saw trinket pins I thought, “Are they crazy? These things are thick and someone is going to get stuck.” Now I love them. I have hand stitched on cards and it takes a long time. Amy’s and Heather’s version is so much quicker and looks great.

The ‘Pins + Needles’ Challenge was filled with inspiration. I created two tags with trinket pins, totally inspired by Melissa’s video. It’s the very first time that I have ever used pins on cards. It’s my first time to participate in Stamp-A-Faire. (The past two years I only watched.) So, it’s a whole day filled with ‘firsts.’ Thanks to the entire design team for so much inspiration!! ♡
