Today I am sharing a very special group of projects with you!  Many of you have already gotten a peek at Lisa Johnson's new Just for You stamp set and all the possibilities it holds for homemade gifts.  (You can check out her amazing posts so far HERE and HERE).  Today I have challenged the entire team to delve into some of their "other" hobbies and create some special gifts for the loved ones in their lives!  Nothing tops off such gifts better than a stamp set that allows you to tag it with style AND create a coordinating card masterpiece!

The Just for You set begins with a frame that coordinates perfectly with a 1.75" circle punch.  Then there are several filler images that you can put within it's center.  Pair that with companion words that describe your gift,  whether it be baked goods, bath products, hand-knitted items, jewelry or even homegrown flowers.  It is all covered with this single set!

The details.

  • Just for You will be available for sale on May 15th.
  • It will retail for $24.
  • Just for You contains a total of 51 stamps ( 1 frame, 10 filler images and 40 descriptive words)
  • A coordinating Mat Stack 2 die works perfectly with this set (and all 1.75" images) and will retail for $5.

Mat-Stack-2-die
Pretty much everyone knows that one of my personal second loves is quilting.  Whether I'm reading about it within the pages of the incredible Elm Creek Quilters series or actually trying my hand at the craft, I love it!  Lisa's new set incorporates a few special phrases suited perfectly for this, so I decided to create a small tabletop quilt with some new Basic Grey fabric as a thoughtful gift for a dear friend.

Adding a little paper and ribbon to a homemade gift such as this is really the icing on the cake and makes it seem that much more special!

Quilt
I took the color cue for my project from the fabrics used in the quilt.  I saw Ocean Tides, Spring Moss & Ripe Avocado!

Card

I am totally in LOVE with how the card turned out.  I used Background Basics: Tin Type on the bottom portion of the card to mimic some of the fabric from the quilt.  It's a bit difficult to see, but Text Style is stamped on the upper Kraft portion with Versamark ink.

Mat stack die
I used Lisa's new Mat Stack 2 die with Spring Moss cardstock and then stamped an overall background pattern with this fun swirly leaf image from Just for You in Ripe Avocado ink.

Linen plate
Next, I ran the mat through my Big Shot with the linen side of the new Linen & Canvas Impression Plate. Plan on seeing a lot of this baby, 'cause I love this thing!  I swiped a bit of Fresh Snow ink around the perimeter to help bring out the newly added texture.

Butterfly closeup
I added a butterfly die-cut from Vintage Cream felt, using Niki's Butterfly Die. Ocan Tides button flank either side of the mat, tied with a bit of Rustic Jute Twine.  One of the things I LOVE about this new Mat Stack die is the way that it creates the perfect spot for buttons!

Hand stitched closeup
The little flag is stamped with "hand" and "stitched from Just for You.  And don'e you love that little stitched heart that's from the set as well?  I added that with Spring Moss ink.  One other note about this embellishment, the glasshead pin was originally white and I colored it with an Ocean Tides Copic Marker to help it coordinate with my project a bit better.

Quilt with label
(click on the above image for a larger view)

The quilt's label is attached to a crossed piece of Dark Chocolate Grosgrain ribbon.  I used the same stamped and textured Mat Stack die-cut as the card, but added some die-cut Vintage Cream vellum under the focal point label.

The "Just for you" border is  separate stamp with a blank opening, allowing you to add an image or phrase depending on your use.  I was able to add the words "handmade" and "quilt", which are both just a small fraction of the offerings in Lisa's set!

That sums it up for my special project today!  Now get comfy and settle in for some amazing blog browsing as you get to glance into all of the Design Team members projects!
