October 2025 Release Day

Introducing Beautiful Blooms II & Background Basics: Botanicals

March 9, 2010      Nichole Heady      Leave a Comment

Way, way back in the beginning of this crazy adventure I've had with Papertrey Ink, I designed a stamp set that was truly a labor of love.  Beautiful Blooms was only the twelfth stamp set I had ever designed, but it had all of the bits and pieces that I had ever dreamed of from a basic floral set.  I've used this set literally hundreds of times over the years and it has been versatile enough to fluctuate with my style as it's changed over time.

What better way to celebrate our third year in business than to bring you a second edition to one of our most popular sets!  Beautiful Blooms II contains several varieties of floral images that can be stacked & layered to your hearts content!  There are also NINE coordinating dies to complement the set, which will bring you even more options than you had before!

The details.

  • Beautiful Blooms II will be available for sale on March 15th.
  • It will retail for $24.
  • Beautiful Blooms II contains a total of 28 stamps (19 floral images, 3 leaves and 6 floral centers.)
  • There will be three sets of three dies available for sales as a companion to this stamp set.  Each set of three nesting dies will retail for $14.

The second set I am showcasing today is a little number from Melissa Bickford.

She has a keen eye for creating background sets that have a certain flair and style that are timeless and can be morphed into a variety of looks.  Her presentation this month includes several varieties of botanical themed patterns, both whimsical and sophisticated that will find a happy place in your collection.

The details.

  • Background Basics: Botanicals will be available for sale on March 15th.
  • It will retail for $24.
  • It contains a total of 12 stamps (6 background building strips and 6 individual companion images)

Now, let's kick off this release and get to some projects!

I thought I would start off with a little video presentation that many of you have requested since we first introduced our exclusive dies last month.  It goes over the basics of cutting with our dies, the sandwiches required for a few of the more popular die-cutting machines as well as some tips for using the new Beautiful Blooms II images with the coordinating dies.

Here is a closeup of the project I highlighted in the video.

Sweet Surprise card
Isn't this so bright and cheery?  Just makes me want to smile!  Plus, who can resist all that sparkle!  After creating one of these layered blooms, I am pretty excited to make more in other color options!  Having pre-made embellishments like this in your arsenal can help you to be prepared to create stunning projects in a matter of minutes!

Picnic plaid background

You might notice the fun texture added to the Raspberry Fizz layer of the card cover.  This was added using one of our new March Impression Plates entitled Picnic Plaid (more about this later in the week).  It's the perfect finishing detail for so many types of projects.

Sweet surprise sentiment
The sentiment is from Cupcake Collection and is stamped in the brand new Hawaiian Shores color that is coming out as well this month (more about this later in the week).  Notice the rickrack?  I die-cut it from Spring Moss cardstock using another new die designed by Dawn McVey!  Such a fun addition to a project!

Layered flower closeup
One thing I love, LOVE, love about the new floral images and dies is the ability to mix and match them.  These two flowers could easily be used by themselves, but as you can see here, they can also be layered on top of one another for even more options.  And you know me!  I love options!

Now, I have also prepared a second video for you today!  (Don't you just feel so spoiled!)  This one showcases how you can use the BACK of our dies to emboss.  You will LOVE how quick & easy this technique is!  Plus it makes the dies you purchase from us THAT much more versatile!

Now onto a few closeups of the card highlighted in the video.

Youre the Best card
The subtle embossing that the backside of the die creates is the perfect backdrop to the coordinating floral images.  It gives pizzaz to a clean & simple card to keep it from being too boring.  Little details like this are what make a project.

Embossing closeup
In this photo you can see how the Scor-tape glitter frame I created surrounds the sentiment perfectly. Adding an outline like this helps to draw the eye inward to the sentiment doesn't get lost in all the white space.

Youre the best card & envelope
I love this little 4×4 size with our coordinating envelope.  It's the perfect thing to leave on someone's desk or use as a gift enclosure.  Plus, it's fun to make things in miniature like this just to throw a little something different into your creative diet!

I have one more quick and easy project that I want to show you using the Background Basics: Botanicals set that I mentioned earlier in this post.  I will be using this set throughout the week, so you will have to keep your eye out for additional projects using it… but here is just a little something to whet your appetite!

Vellum Flower Card
I love the soft, delicate style that this project ended up taking on.  I stamped one of my favorite patterns from this new set using Versamark ink on Sweet Blush cardstock.  You'll notice that I didn't stamp the pattern all the way to the right-hand edge to help add emphasis to the ribbon border and flower.

Diecut vellum flowers
The vellum flower I created is the perfect example of how you can use our new Beautiful Blooms die trios WITHOUT the stamps fro even more possibilities.  I die-cut them here from our vellum cardstock, two of each size.

Piercing vellum flower
I stacked them all on top of one another, making sure the petals were staggered.  I then used a paper piercer to add two holes to the center of the stack.

Stitching vellum flower
Using a needle and crochet thread, I stitched the flowers together, letting the ends of thread extend out through the top side of the flower.

Vellum flower closeup
Those loose ends provided the perfect way to tie a Sweet Blush vintage button in place, adding a finishing decorative element to my layered flower.  SO addicted to these now and am looking forward to making MORE for my stash!!!!!

So, are you completely, madly in love with today's sets just as I am?  And what about all those new dies?? To die for, right????  We would love to hear your first impressions of everything presented today.  Just for sharing your initial thoughts with us, you could have a chance at winning a FABULOUS prize package!
