Project Inspiration: Magic of the Season Card by Melissa Phillips

Vintage Ornament Card Project Inspiration by Bobbi Lemanski

October 2025 Release Day

Introducing 2009 Halloween Tags & 2009 Autumn Tags

August 11, 2009      Nichole Heady      Leave a Comment

When we first debuted the stamp set 2008 Holiday Tag Collection, it was met with rave reviews and we knew we had really found a concept that appealed to a large audience.  We followed suit with Tags for Spring this past February and this month we are introducing TWO new tag sets!  2009 Halloween Tags & 2009 Autumn Tags!

All of the circular tag images in these sets coordinate perfectly with both a 1.75-inch
standard circle punch and/or our new 2" EK Success Scalloped Circle Punch that we'll be carrying.
Both these punches will be available in our store on August 15th as well.  (The tag images also work great with Marvy's blue Super Jumbo Scalloped Circle
Punch
).
This product coordination allows you to easily stamp, punch
& go!  But don't let the name fool you!  These images don't have to
be just used for tags!  They make fabulous focal points for cards and
much, much more!

Another fun thing about these sets, is that they are contributed to by our entire group of stamp designers.  So, in other words, they feature a wide array of styles & looks all in one set.

The details.

  • 2009 Halloween Tags will be available for sale on August 15th.
  • It will retail for $24

    circle punch

I put together a challenge for the team and myself entitled "Tags Two Ways".  The challenge was to focus on the versatility &
ease of use that these types of designs afford. To showcase this I thought it would be fantastic to
create a project using the 2009 Halloween
set, then turn around and create a second version of the same project
substituting image(s) from the 2009 Autumn Tags set. I'll start with my take on this FUN challenge!

Halloween Treat Ensemble

Let's kick things off with my Halloween version first.  I chose to use a fun spiderweb image that Heather Nichols designed for 2009 Halloween Tags. In fact, this image and the font Heather chose is what inspired all of the sentiments contained in this set!

Halloween Card

Here's a close-up of the card.  It's a combination of all kinds of fun things!  The white stitched grid background is from Background Basics: Retro.  The same set was used with Scarlet Jewel ink on Raspberry Fizz cardstock for the scalloped mat.  As a fun little detail, I used my trusty white gel pen to add a little dot in the center of each circle. Call me crazy, but there is something SO fun to me about adding small dots to the centers of things!  Whether it be Stickles, gel pens, Perfect Pearls, rhinestones or piercing, I love it all!

Spider button added

I thought you might want to know a bit more about the spider I created too.  The image includes just the web and outlining sentiment.  It's heat embossed with white filigree embossing powder onto Orange Zest cardstock.  A Scarlet Jewel button was adhered in place with a single mini glue dot.

Piercing

I then used a paper piercer to pierce the stitching holes for the legs of the spider.

I then used three strands of black embroidery floss  to create the stitches.  One long stitch is done from the top of the spider to the top of the web after the legs are complete.  Isn't that SO fun!!!!  You could also make a spider out of one of our new black rhinestones!

Did you see Lauren's new Tucked Away template that is releasing this month?  It is one of my FAVORITE things she has ever done.  Seriously!  LOVE it!  This is the mini version that you get with the full-size model.  The whole thing prints out in one piece on a single sheet of 8.5 x 11" cardstock!  Talk about SUPER easy to assemble!

Autumn Harvest Ensemble

Here's my Autumn version of the same project.  The colors were changed to Spring Moss, Ocean Tides, Vintage Cream and Classic Kraft.  The diamond pattern on the Spring Moss cardstock was created with Journaling Lines and Versamark ink.

Autumn Harvest card

The card uses one of the large patterns from Damask Designs as a background, stamped with Vintage Cream ink.

Autumn Harvest Tag closeup

I absolutely ADORE this tag image from 2009 Autumn Tags that Melissa Bickford contributed.  The sentiment is a separate stamp that is also included in the set.  I found the trick for overlaying True Black ink on top of Vintage Cream ink is to allow the Vintage Cream ink to dry thoroughly before layering them.  The results turn out much better this way than when the Vintage Cream is still a bit wet.

Isn't it fun to see the WHOLE dynamics of a projects change just by the stamp images chosen along with color?!?!?  I just KNOW you want to see more!  Here's a whopping TEN takes on my little challenge put together by the rest of the team! (Note: you may want to grab a cup of coffee and get comfy for this one!)

Well, there you have it!  The fun thing about showcasing all of these projects is that you can come back and use all of these inspirations as a starting point for projects using ANY of our tag sets.  After this release, we will have four total tag sets in our repertoire!  All of the tags, no matter the set, are designed with the same 1.75" diameter, so you can interchange the designs between *sketches* with ease!
