I was a little unsure of how to conduct this month’s countdown. It is a little differnet than others we have had in the past. I have already revealed that Papertrey will be releasing 5 NEW sets on July 15th. And there is no way to introduce the first set, without mentioning all five.
On Saturday night (midnight EST) Papertrey will be debuting five stamp sets that coordinate perfectly with ALL of Marvy’s Clever-Lever Scalloped Punches. There will be one set for each shape. Each set will contain a variety of images, featuring a few for EACH of all four sizes of punches available in that particular shape. So for example, the square set will be all-inclusive and carry images for the super-jumbo, extra-jumbo, mega & giga scalloped square punches.
For those of you who haven’t jumped on the scalloped punch bandwagon, there are hundreds of uses for these sets without them. The punches are a wonderful compliment to the images, but not a necessity.
I thought I would kick-off the coundown with a little tribute to the square set. It features a total of 20 images. I love how the squares "nest" within each other so perfectly. It makes it so easy to add a lot of drama to your focal point. All five of these sets make it so eay to pull off a simple card effortlessly.
I created a unique spine for this card as a special detail.
1. Score your card about 1/2-inch from the edge. Punch two 1/8-inch holes within the 1/2-inch.
2. Lay ribbon accross front spine of card.
3. Wrap around to the back and thread ends up through holes. Pull one end to the left of the ribbon laid accross the cover, and one end to the right.
4. Knot around the ribbon strip and you have completed the spine!
Some of you may have seen the big news revealed on Ellen’s blog yesterday. The announcement was in reference to some new & AMAZING scalloped dies from Spellbinders that will be available for sale in mid-August. Papertrey is proud to be one of the first retailers to be recieving a shipment of these revolutionary dies. We will begin taking pre-orders on August 1st.
I have some prototypes of the dies that Jeff at Spellbinders so kindly sent my way. I am truely in awe of how amazing these are. I will be talking about them often over the next few weeks.
First I thouhgt I would provide you with a side-by-side comparison of Marvy vs. Spellbinders scalloped squares. This photo shows the Marvy Super-Jumbo scalloped square on the left and the Spellbinders scalloped square of equal demensions. As you can see they are almost identical, except the Marvy version has a slightly rounder, robust corner to it.
I know what your thinking. So do these new Spellbinders dies work with the stamp sets debuting on July 15th? Well the answer is yes & no. (I’m so helpful, aren’t I?!?!?) Most images are compatible with both brands of scallop shapes. There are a few images that were designed to have attributes that fit in each individual scallop of a Marvy Punch. These images cannot be used with a Spellbinders die of equal size because there is a different "hump count". Although the images could definitely be used with a die that was a little larger to allow the stamp details to fall within the boundries of the scallops.
Many of you have also inquired as to how I ended up storing all of my Marvy punches. I actually just completed contruction today. My hubby made a rack from scrap wood that I painted white. He attached it to the back of my door with heavy-duty screws. I attached curtains rods ($1.50 ea. at Wal*Mart) to the rack and placed the punches accordingly. It works like a charm! And since my door is almost always open, they aren’t an eye sore within my space, yet easily accessible at the same time. I am really happy about the way it turned out!

I do have a question! For the free set at the end of the road – as long as we have bought all of the sets, it doesn’t matter *when* we buy them, right?! I am a bit behind with the last two sets, and I will order them, I just haven’t had the budget to yet. I just want to make sure that I’ll get the freebie in the end… gosh, I’m a sucker for free stuff! LOL
You are amazing Nichole! A fabulous stamper and business person to boot! I hope that everything is going well with well… *everything*! Congrats and I know it must be hard work! Keep going chica! You can do it! ๐

I recently stumbled upon your blog and now it’s a daily read for me. I love your incredibly cool idea of storing all the punches! That’s one I’m going to have to try for myself. The spine on the card is such a clever idea also – it never occured to me to try that on a card before. The info on the scallop varieties is most helpful too. Thanks for sharing all your savvy talents, artwork, and knowledge with everyone. you rock!!

My goodness, you’ve been busy! Can’t wait for the new sets. I’ve been holding off on an order until the release of these new ones (Let me just tell you, it’s taken lots of willpower) ๐ Your storage idea is wonderful and your card simply beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration!
Love the new set. Your punch storage it great!
Oh my gosh! Amazing! I can’t wait!
I love how you are storing your punches too. I made dh get up from breakfast to look at the rack. That will be a good project for my birthday!
Thanks for sharing your endless creativity!
I think these sets are going to be AWESOME! I’m really excited! Also – I use the same storage for my punches. It is so cheap and works perfectly!
Descisions, descisions… I can’t wait to see them all. I have NO doubt that they will be great! I love the ribbon accent on this card, also. You do such a terrific job showing use unique and different ways to use products. The countdowns are as great at the debuts (well, almost) and certainly remain very useful even after the excitement dies down- no pun intended.
Can’t wait for the new sets!! I just posted your blog on the message board for the ladies going to Creative Escape this year. I’m sure there will be others just as excited as me!!
Thanks Nichole, for taking photos of how you created your own storage scheme for all your punches. I’m printing those images right now, so I can place an ~Order~ with my DH to make. Actually, it looks easy enough that I may take a turn at it ~ Oooops btw, I want them to line up and be straight HA! Can’t wait ’til the 15th … Tick-Tock …
Love the card it is so simple but elegant. Thanks for sharing with us all. Smiles for a great week.
love, love, love the card Nichole:)
need, need, need that slightly-more-rounded scallop punch:)
thanks for sharing:)
This is great! I’m going to have DH make me one too! I can’t stand riffling through my drawers for the right punch! I’m so glad I finally found your blog…heard so much about it!
After seeing your cards with the scallops, I ordered a couple from Papertrey. I was amazed at how quickly I received them, and with the free S/H, I will certainly be ordering a few more in a couple of weeks.
Not sure about all these blogs and stuff, I have somehow found my way to you.
I wanted to say you are sooo clever and I admire your beautiful work.
Kindest regards
Dee
