June 2017 Release: Day 2

Welcome back to Day 2 of our June Release Countdown! We have even more to share with you today and we can hardly wait to get started!

Year of Psalms

The Psalms are filled with verses of thanksgiving, praise, encouragement, and comfort.  Each month, the Year of Psalms series will feature a verse set in a beautiful font combination.  The verse chosen for June is Psalm 23:2 and is perfect for creating cards and projects for sympathy, encouragement in difficult times, and more.  The extra images included in the set are wonderful for creating pretty scenes and backgrounds to coordinate with the sentiment.

Textile Impressions

This set was inspired by the bold, geometric prints emblazoned on African mud cloth fabrics. These lines, dots, and triangles come together to build patterns brimming with ethnic sophistication. Traditionally produced in striking black and white, with Textile Impressions now you have the freedom to create in adventurous color! Where will your imagination take you?

Land That I Love

For those who love all things patriotic, this set will be an essential addition to your collection. The gorgeous sentiments can be used for  military appreciation, Veteran's Day, Memorial Day and 4th of July celebrations. With stylish medallions and starts to pair up with the sentiments, you will have everything you need at your fingertips to make endless red, white and blue creations.

Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!

Because of the Brave Card

My first project uses the new Land That I Love stamp set by Heather Nichols. This particular sentiment from the set is one of my favorites. I have a lot of special people in my life that have served or currently serving, and this sentiment does a beautiful job of expressing how I feel about the sacrifices they have made.

The background was stamped with he various medallions and such from he set using Fresh Snow ink. I also added the stitched frame detail from the new Mix & Mat: Pretty Brackets die set.

I heat embossed the sentiment onto Pure Poppy cardstock in white, then stamped the sentiment on scrap white cardstock in Dark Indigo and cut out just the banner to adhere over the appropriate area on my card.

  • INK: Fresh Snow, VersaMark, Dark Indigo
  • PAPER: Dark Indigo, Pure Poppy
  • DIES: Mix & Mat: Pretty Brackets

Happy 4th Card

Here is another card using Land That I Love, this time a little something for the upcoming 4th of July holiday.

The fonts Heather selected for this set are just perfect and I love the way they finish a card.

I stamped the various medallions and such to somewhat resemble fireworks using Pure Poppy and Dark Indigo.

  • PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Pure Poppy

Green Pastures Card

If there was ever a set to purchase from the Year of Psalms set, this may possibly be the one (although I reserve the right to change my mind as Betsy expands the collection further!).

Not only is the verse especially meaningful to me, but Betsy thought to add some trees, stream and sheep images to create the perfect pairing.

Projects come together so easily since she includes everything you need in one set. I inked the trees with Prairie Grass, then added a little Olive Twist at the bottoms to add some shading before stamping. The cute little sheep are covered with some white flock for texture.

  • INK: True Black, Smokey Shadow, Prairie Grass. Olive Twist, Ocean Tides, Stormy Sea
  • PAPER: Soft Stone, Ocean Tides

Textile Ensemble

To say I am smitten with the new Textile Impressions set would be an understatement. It is SO full of possibilities and lots of fantastic basics, it is truly something you can return to again and again. I created this little trio of cards using small details from the set along with a few sentiments.

Hey there detail

I established my color scheme and then started experimenting with different arrangements and patterns with the bits and pieces included in this amazing set.

Hello detail

Once the colors were put together it was so fun to play around with the different combinations and design options.

Happy mail detail

A quick and easy way to build up a nice stash of everyday cards!

Ombre Birthday Card

My last card today uses the interior pattern block from the new Mix & Mat: Pretty Brackets die set.

I cut it from the card cover twice, leaving a small sentiment border in the middle.

I added an inked ombre background behind the cut-outs so the vibrant scheme could peek through all of the openings.

Keeway Tsao is joining me today, featuring Year of Psalms: June and Textile Impressions

Stephanie Gold is joining me today, featuring Land That I Love and Mix & Mat: Pretty Brackets dies

Home of the Free 1

I've always loved the combination of reds and blues with kraft for patriotic projects, and Stephanie did just that with this fantastic project. The pattern detail created by replacing the interior die-cuts with an alternate color is so eye-catching and also provides some nice texture.

Fourth of July 1

The cleverness of this card is just plain darn amazing and shows of Stephanie's skills in thinking outside the box! By layering some simple strips under these die-cut layers and building everything in the appropriate colors, she create a flag from the Mix & Mat layers. Such an easy thing to do with striking results.

Sweet Land of Liberty 1

This project really shows off the beauty of this month's Mix & Mat shape as well as the elegance of Heather's font selections for her Land That I Love set. The absence of color along with the single "pop" created with the red, white and blue twines is simple yet sophisticated.
