Good morning! Welcome to this month's Moments Inked Planner feature. Today, I thought it would be fun to take the stamps out of the planner. I hear from many of you that you use a good old fashioned wall calendar and I wanted to take some time to show you how the Moments Inked stamps are just as perfect for you as they are for binder and book planners. And for us binder and book girls, a display calendar can be a great addition for the rest of the family to see.
In addition to being a graphic designer, I am also a part time lower school teacher, so I have the summers "off" to focus on my design work and family, which means the need for a day to day planner is a little less during these off months. It's actually the perfect time to use a larger monthly calendar. So, I decided to create a summer clipboard calendar and make it accessible to my girls for reference as well. We're all in a summer break frame of mind and it helps to have a common place to check up on what's happening.
As I do in my planner, I started with a sticker stamping session. You can stamp directly on your calendar, but I like the ease of stickers. I stamp a stash once a month or so, so it's not that time consuming and I have a lot on hand when needed. Plus, I use removable labels so that I can easily move them if plans change. (My two favorites are Avery 5408 Removable 3/4 inch circles and Avery 5424 Removable 5/8 x 7/8 inch labels.)
Because the clipboard I was using to hold my calendar is so colorful, I decided to keep my calendar title design super simple. But if you plan on using the printable, I did leave lots of space for those of you who like to go big!
I chose three colors from the clipboard pattern, one for each month, and stamped a polka dot block (from Moments Inked: Day by Day Blocks) off the edge of the page, with the name of the month (from Monthly Moments: Year Round Mini) stamped in black on top.
Another reason for keeping the titles simple is that the stickers add a lot of color as well. I'm a visual person, so I like images, but the planner banners would also work well for those who prefer written labels.
I particularly enjoyed using the icon circles from Moments Inked: Day by Day Lists to highlight trips and special days – the open shape in the middle is perfect for adding notes of who, when or where.
Of course, I also added in a few fun day phrases on days that didn't have much going on. Moments Inked: Day by Day has several to get you started!
Whether you print your own calendar (download link below!) or use a different kind of wall calendar, custom stickers make it easy to see what's going on at a quick glance – for you and everyone else in your household!
