Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
One of the fun things about the new Circled Symbols set is that you can visually communicate your sentiment, leading to a whole new way to create cards. For this project I kept thing pretty simple and went with just two of the circled designs.
I watercolored the background first and allowed it to dry thoroughly before stamping the symbols in True Black ink. I added the sketched circular frame around each of them, adding a bit more emphasis. The small companion sentiment was stamped on a scrap of the same watercolor paper and added underneath with foam tape.
- STAMPS: Circled Symbols
- INK: True Black
- PAPER: Smokey Shadow, watercolor paper
- OTHER: Zig Clean Color Brush Markers, watercolor brush
This is the simplest use of this new set, and allows you to put a card together in literally minutes. With all the occasions covered, this collection can certainly be a go to.
I stamped the four circles in a row using bright, cheerful colors. To give emphasis to "friend" I stamped a sketched circle around it and popped it up with foam tape. Only taking ten minutes to make, this is an easy design to replicate. The hardest part is choosing your colors!
- STAMPS: Circled Symbols
- INK: Summer Sunrise, Simply Chartreuse, Orange Zest, Hibiscus Burst, True Black, Smokey Shadow
- PAPER: Stamper's Select White
- OTHER: Foam tape
I wanted to show how Circled Symbols images can also be used individually for a more sophisticated look. Here I selected the bee image to create my own faux wax seal.
These die-cut leaves from Gathered Garden proved to be a good companion for the seal.
I stamped the sentiment onto a thin strip of kraft crd stock and adhered it just under the seal.
I love how this looks paired with the new Mix & Mat: Scallops die. All of the delicate details are just lovely together.
- STAMPS: Circled Symbols
- INK: True Black
- PAPER: Ocean Tides, Olive Twist, Classic Kraft
- DIES: Mix & Mat: Scallops dies, Gathered Garden dies
- OTHER: Gold Filigree Embossing Powder
My last project for today uses the fabulous new Year of Psalms: April set. This verse this month is especially meaningful and lends itself to so many card occasions.
I heat embossed the sentiment onto white cardstock and sponged inks over it, being sure they were a bit darker in the spots over the sentiment.
A scattering of stamped hearts and some clear sequins help to finish it off.
- STAMPS: Year of Psalms: April
- INK: Summer Sunrise, Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet, VersaMark
- PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Summer Sunrise, Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet
- OTHER: Mini ink blending tool, white ink, clear sequins, White Filigree Embossing Powder
Laurie Schmidlin is joining me today, featuring Year of Psalms: April.
I love the way that Laurie added a die-cut stitched frame over her watercolored sentiment with foam dimensional, this gives the verse more emphasis and makes it feel more formal.
- STAMPS: Year of Psalms: April, Gran’s Garden stamp set
- DIES: Gran’s Garden dies, Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical dies
- INK: Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Harvest Gold, Prairie Grass, Limeade Ice, Summer Sunrise
- PAPER: White, watercolor paper
- OTHER: Watercolor paint, White embossing powder, Versamark ink, String, Wood heart
General when stamping a huge sentiment in black like this, paired with pastel colors it might be a bit too overpowering. Since Laurie added the black splatters to the background layer and also some black elements to her heart embellishment to the the side, it definitely works and provides stunning results!
- STAMPS: Year of Psalms: April
- DIES: Mix & Mat: Scallops
- INK: True Black, Distress Oxide inks, Versamark
- PAPER: White, Patterned paper
- OTHER: Black detail embossing powder, Black watercolor paint, clothespin, string, Sequins, Wood heart
Loving how Laurie thought to pair this verse with graduation elements, it is truly a perfect pair. The gold and black color scheme makes this a great card for any graduate, being formal but not too stuffy. The vertical border with the graduation year is a great way to add balance to the the tag in an understated way.
- STAMPS: Year of Psalms: April, For the Graduate
- DIES: For the Graduate, Basic Bookmark 1
- INK: Smokey Shadow, True Black, Versamark
- PAPER: True Black, White, Patterned vellum
- OTHER: Gold detail embossing powder, Black enamel star, String
Stephanie Gold is joining me today, featuring Circled Symbols.
Stephanie was clever to use the smaller typed sentiments to create an amazing stamped border. This is so simple to do but adds so much to the project. I also like the balance that this creates for the bolder stamped symbols and heavy twine.
- STAMPS: Circled Symbols
- INK: Tropical Teal, Raspberry Fizz, Limeade Ice, Hawaiian Shores, Spring Rain, Black
- PAPER: Stampers Select White, Hawaiian Shores Cardstock
- OTHER: Natural Twine
Th concept for this design is so simple, yet so gorgeous! You could do this with a single symbol and any ombré color scheme you select. A great way to add even more versatility to this set.
- STAMPS: Circled Symbols
- INK: Tropical Teal, Limeade Ice, Harvest Gold
- PAPER: Stampers Select White
I love how you can achieve additional colors by overlapping these circles over one another slightly. The Circle Scribbles die-cut is an awesome way to ground this little circle trio as well.
- STAMPS: Circled Symbols
- INK: Vintage Jadeite, New Leaf, Limeade Ice, Black
- PAPER: Stampers Select White, Vintage Jadeite
Melissa Phillips is joining me today, featuring the Made With Love collection that was introduced yesterday.
Melissa is famous for her love of baking and this set proves to be a perfect pairing for her sweet treats. The multiple layers of color and pattern she used here create lots of visual interest without a lot of effort. Such a great way to dress up a simple cello bag!
- STAMPS: Made with Love and Gran’s Garden
- DIES: Made with Love Tags 2, Gran’s Garden, Mix & Mat: Scallops
- INK: Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, Enchanted Evening, Mint Julep
- PAPER: Vintage Cream, Fresh Snow Linen
The earthy color combination used on this tag is very reminiscent of the primitive styled embroidery that it is paired dup with. Note that she tied the tag with a torn strip of muslin. You could do this with leftover fabric scraps from any stitched gift you create to help coordinate everything and bring it together.
- STAMPS: Made with Love, Gathered Garden, and Sew Simple Borders
- DIES: Made with Love Tags 1, Gathered Garden, and Be Happy
- INK: Autumn Rose, Spring Moss, Lavender Moon, Prairie Grass
- PAPER: Kraft, Vintage Cream, Chicken Scratch Gingham
- ACCENTS: Sweet Blush and Spring Moss felt
Melissa added some incredible detail to this tag by cutting just the lower portion with the new Mix & Mat: Scallops die. Also note how she hung the tag with a bulldog clip, while also clipping a sprig of berries in place. Little touches like this make the gift wrap extra special.
- STAMPS: Made with Love, Beautiful Berries: Spring
- DIES: Made with Love Tags 3, Mix & Mat: Scallops, Beautiful Berries: Spring
- INK: Mint Julep, Olive Twist, Spring Moss, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, and Autumn Rose
- PAPER: Vintage Cream, Sheer Basics Vellum
