Ahhhh, to plan my own birthday would be so fun. Some coffee and breakfast with my husband and the 5 kids first. Since I”m fantasizing, my husband would come in around noon with a prepared meal and would encourage me to visit my favorite crafting sites (PTI is tops, of course) and buy all of my wishlist items. Doesn’t that sound lovely?? Tee hee – what a fun question!

I could never top the party my daughter threw for me on my last birthday (50th!). She planned a Scottish themed surprise party complete with Scottish food, music and, the icing on the cake so to speak, a bagpiper! Every time I thought it was as good as it could get, she surprised me with something even more wonderful. All of my best friends were there including the last surprise, a friend who had just moved 11 hours away 2 weeks prior flew in just for my birthday. AND the men wore kilts! If my next birthday were to be a “dream” celebration, my family and I would travel to Australia. I was able to spend a year there as an exchange student decades ago. I’d love to introduce my family to that beautiful country, and to my host sister (whose birthday is the same day!) and her family. Other than that once in a lifetime birthday, my ideal celebration would be a quiet day at home, with a homemade cake and a simple meal.
Rita says
I get to spend lots of quality time with family, so a special day for me would be a day with my friend, Dianne. If I planned my next birthday with her, it would a day of shopping and surprises, ones I’ve planned for her and vise versa. She knows me so well and is so thoughtful in how she finds ways to make me smile. I imagine that we would meet up at a coffee shop, head to the book store, then move on to an office supply store, and finally a local stamping store. After a full day of laughter and girl talk, we would wind down the day in my craft room, creating with any new stamps and dies I’ve added to my collection since our last visit. Any day I get to spend with her is a special day to celebrate.

A nice dinner at Mahogany Prime, a good bottle of wine (although my opinion of good apparently isn’t a wine connoisseur’s) and my favorite cheesecake from my girlfriend’s family recipe that has been handed down through the years and makes cheesecake factory’s seem pale by comparison. It has 4 1/2 blocks of cream cheese in it and some other secret ingredients.
