Remember back in the day, when we didn't have dies for anything and everything?! Back then, we had to fussy cut if we wanted something cut out! This skill is a great one to have in your back pocket, for those instances when you don't have a die for a specific image or sentiment. Check out Ashley's tips and give this classic technique a try! Don't forget, there's a free Papertrey gift certificate up for grabs if you play along!

Wow that’s amazing fussy cutting. I am terrible at fussy cutting and try not to do it because I am so horrible at it. BUT now that I have seen how you do it, I think I will give it another try!!!
Thank you for a great tutorial!!!!

Thanks for this. You made my day! I’ve been fussy cutting for a long time, and have gotten pretty good at it. I have NEVER thought of using a pencil to draw around first. Genius I am not – but you are!
Janet says
What Annette said. Geesh, sometimes I wonder about myself! There are so many complicated techniques around, expensive machines, addicting dies. Probably could afford a machine if every time I said “I wish I had a die for that,” I’d paid myself. Thank you Ashley.

Beautiful cards, Ashley. Thanks for the fussy cutting tips. One question. I notice that you have your stamps and dies stored in some lovely plastic envelopes. May I ask what brand and size those are and where did you purchase/order them?
Nichole Heady says
Make It Monday posts are shared every Monday with the exception of Mondays that fall within a release week or a Monday that coincides with the Blog Hop on the 25th. Just trying to spread the inspiration out a bit better rather than double posting! Hope that helps! 🙂
Bev says
Such a simple idea, but never once thought of doing it. Thank you, Ashley, for sharing this. Your cards are lovely. I always enjoy your videos and techniques.

Ashley-this was a great (&pandora lr) tutorial! I just love that you used the pencil line, because I am spontaneous, I like to just go for it-but I often change my mind or add something in. Definitely doing this on my next card.
Also-your voice/personality is just adorable and now that I’ve heRd it I think we would be friends if we ever met. ? thanks for your contributions to te always fabulous Papertrey team!
