Introducing Quick Stitch Kit: Sewing Staples by Erin Lincoln

February 28, 2015      Nichole Heady      844 Comments

We are thrilled to present Erin Lincoln's very first Quick Stitch Kit!  Just wait until you see all the details!

Sewing-staples-title

The first Quick Stitch Kit will be released on March 9th and it is entitled "Sewing Staples".  Erin has really outdone herself with this one! The stitching dies included help you to make a few different sewing accessories that are not only beautiful, but also super functional.  You will have all of your sewing supplies in order just in time for the new stitching products coming out over the next year!  Not only will this kit help YOU to get organized, but also make wonderful handmade gifts for friends and family.  The team even has a few unconventional uses for these stitching dies that will allow you to take everything in a completely different direction and get more value for your investment in these tools!

Here are some additional details about each of the fabulous products individually!

Sewing-Staples-webview

This mini stamp set replicates some of the flowers found in the dies showcased below, only in stamp form, giving you tons of options for creating coordinating gift tags, cards and more!  Here are some basic measurement references for the stamp set:

  • label measures 1-3/4" x 5/8"
  • numbers measure 1/8" x 1/8"
  • sentiment measures 1-7/8" x 7/8"
  • large flower measures 1"
  • medium flower measures 3/4"
  • large leaf measures 5/8" x 1/2"
  • small leaf measures 3/8" x 1/4"

The stitching details incorporated into the stamps are just beautiful and stamp so crisply!

Flowers-dies

Of course there are coordinating dies included for these flowers so you can layer to your hearts content!

I know that one of the first things you must be wondering off the bat is why the numbers are backwards in this stamp set!  Well, that is because Erin has developed a clever way to create permanent numbered ribbon tabs for bobbins so you always know what floss colors coordinate with your favorite Papertrey felt colors.

Here is a video showing you exactly how she does it!

Of course, besides the stamp set, this kit contains many of the other supplies you need to create your own floss bobbins!  Can you just imagine having a bobbin like this for each of your felt colors?  And what a beautiful gift for someone too!

Floss-Bobbin-dies

There are two dies in this collection.  The smaller die is intended to be used with the cover board included in the kit to create the interior support for your bobbin.  The larger die can be used with two layers of felt to create a stitched cover for the interior.

  • small interior support die measures 1-1/2" x 1"
  • large bobbin cover die measures 1-3/4" x 1-1/4"

Cover board

The kit includes two 8-1/2" x 11" sheets of white cover board to be used with the interior bobbin die.  This 200# cover board is thick enough to create a nice sturdy insert, but thin enough to die-cut beautifully.

Ribbon

You will also receive a full spool of our Fresh Snow Satin ribbon to be used with the iron-on transfer sheets and number stamps to create the labeled tabs for your bobbins.

Iron on

Two 8-1/2" x 11" iron on transfer sheets are included, which are specially designed to work well with our dye inks.  By using these sheets, you don't need to worry about the ink bleeding.  As you saw in Erin's video above, these make it quick and easy to create those custom tabs!

Floss box

The kit also includes one unfinished wooden bobbin box, ready for you to paint or stain in any way you wish! The box measures 3-7/8" long x 2-1/2" wide x 2-1/8" deep.

Finished floss box

This charming little box will hold about 6-8 assembled bobbins, making this a great way to keep special floss together for a particular project you are toting around at the moment.  Or of course, it would also make a wonderful gift!

Needle-Book-dies

Next up is this amazing collection of dies Erin created to make it quick and easy to stitch up a custom needle book.

  • assembled needle book measures 5" x 3-1/4" open.
  • pocket die measures 2-1/4" x 1-1/4"

But don't let the name fool you!  There are all sorts of things you can do with these versatile dies besides using them with felt!  A few of the designers have some awesome ideas to share with you!  But first…

Here is a video Erin filmed that shows you how easy it is to put this Needle Book together!

Isn't it just the sweetest?  And there are endless ways to customize it, too!

Needle book cover

The clever slot die to create a ribbon closure is just genius in my opinion!

4 (2)

Of course, with your needles looking so pretty, you also need something gorgeous for your scissors!

Scissor-Keeper-dies

The scalloped layer detail on these is what really steals the show!

  • assembled scissor keeper with scallops measures 7-1/2" x 3-5/8"
  • assembled scissor keeper without scallops measures 6-7/8" x 3-3/8"

Erin put together another video showcasing the fabulous Scissor Keeper dies!

I can picture ordering a pretty pair of scissors from Victorian Trading Co., tucking them inside one of these pretty scissor keepers and giving them as a gift to any kind of crafter!  What a gift to cherish!  Not to mention, you need a set for yourself too!  :)

Scissor keeper

The scissor keeper is not only beautiful, but it helps keep your scissors protected and in tip top shape!

Floral-Cluster-dies

The delicate floral details that Erin created to go along with these sewing accessories are truly amazing.  She has made it so easy for you with this special companion placement die, which cuts several stitching holes at once.  By using the chart included in the downloadable pdf that you receive once you order, you can easily create this beautiful arrangement yourself, no experience or designer's eye required!

  • large flower measures 1"
  • medium flower measures 3/4"
  • large leaf measures 5/8" x 1/2"
  • small leaf measures 3/8" x 1/4"
  • heart measures 1/2"

2 (3)

You can just have fun experimenting with color combinations!  You can get even more mileage from these dies by creating your own designs!

Beads

The placement die even cuts holes for you to add seed beads, an elegant detail that adds so much to this type of crafting.  A test tube of white seed beads is included in the kit, a nice neutral that will go with whatever felt colors are your favorite!

Tote

Erin has thought of everything, and one of the signature items for each of her Stitch Kits will be a collectible tote bag featuring design elements from the kit.  Not only will this tote bag be great for keeping all of your kit contents together, but you can use it to carry your stitching projects around while you are working on them!  The body of the tote bag measures 12" x 12" .

Sewing Staples is certainly going to keep all your supplies organized in style and make the cutest cards and crafts for all your paper needs. Lizzie

Lizzie says, "I am absolutely smitten with Erin's new Quick Stitch: Sewing Staples Kit! These adorable projects are a breeze thanks to the thoughtfully designed dies and embellishments Erin has included. And I can't even tell you how much fun it's been to create color coordinated bobbins for all of my felt and floss. You're sure to fall in love with this kit from the moment you thread your first needle!"

  Rebecca

Rebecca says, "Erin's Sewing Staples Kit is amazing–she has literally thought of everything whilst designing it, and as I worked away at my projects this last week and a half, I found myself wondering just what was going on inside that creative brain of hers.  Confession:  I really don't know that much about sewing (ssshhh, don't tell)…but that's kind of the genius behind the Quick Stitch Kits: You don't have to!  If you can thread a needle, you're basically good to go.  Honestly.”

Tracy

Tracy says, "There is so much to love about this kit! In addition to the projects being super cute and practical, they are so much fun to put together. I was able to make both simple versions of the projects, and more elaborate ones as well. I love that I now have these creative pieces that I made that I can use every day. And I'm also looking forward to making sets to give as gifts!"

This kit is charming! On one of our day trips this past summer, we visited Genesee Country Village in Mumford, NY. At the Dressmaker’s Shop, the woman was sewing and had made herself a sewing kit based on a description from a vintage sewing book from the 19th century. I have wanted to recreate what I saw there and find Erin’s Sewing Staples – Quick Stitch kit to be perfect!

I really like Tracy Miller’s idea of using the needle book dies to make a pincushion. I can see making gift sets of the scissors pouch, needle book, and pin cushion for friends who sew or just the scissors pouch for non-sewing crafty friends. I am SO glad the stitching dies available later date though I am not sure I can wait that long. lol…

WOW!!! I’ve never really done any sewing to speak of but have my grandmother’s sewing machine. Plus these are items my Mom would love, I hope. I’ve never played with felt, it would be a total departure from paper-crafting for me. I’ve bought your shaker kit as well as your Christmas one and was totally thrilled with those, and love all you have been creating in stitching, as I’m anxious to incorporate stitching onto my cards especially for my cross-stitching mother to make cards she can give to her cross-stitching friends. I just placed my largest order ever during your sale and purchased some really cool items to help me with this. My Mom LOVES cool scissors and your scissor keeper combined with the fantastic scissors and Victorian Trading Co would make the perfect Mother’s Day gift along with a large set of cards using PTI cross-stitch stamps and dies I have and some that are coming in my latest order. Right now PTI gets a HUGE portion of my paper-crafting budget because I’m totally blown away with what I’m finding here. I love what you create!

I’ve used some of your stamps for making 100’s of bookmarks in the past, mainly bible verse bookmarks and Christmas ones, I just bought your newest 3 bookmark dies and hope to buy your Book Club stamp set when I can, but my good friend already has that set for me to at least try out, I love that set and will get it soon. LOVE your 1st bookmark stamp set and bible verse sets for Christmas and everyday bible verse sets–wonderful, modern fonts.

And this was the first year I could “purchase” your Anniversary stamp set because I had enough points, what a THRILL!!! You guys are really doing amazing work, now I just need to be well enough to create all that’s going around in my head that I want to create especially for my mother. I’ve got a few months until Mother’s Day, I’d better get busy!!! I’ll start on the cards until this kit arrives. 🙂 WELL-DONE!!! Such original products, I am THRILLED!!! My taste is quite eclectic, other loves are Anna Griffin’s old-world style and flowers especially from Heartfelt Creations, cannot wait to blend and see what I come up with, WOW!!!

    Blessings,

    Joanne

This is a wonderfully creative kit, but I think it is too expensive. These kits you all put out need to be more in the $50-60 range, especially these where you are going to want to buy felt to make some of these wonderful things. I know that price point is hard to stay at especially with the stitching dies being a multiple set of dies for each item and they are usually big dies. Just wanted to add my opinion on that though.

I always had a little sewing kit at work, and believe me, I sewed pant hems for men, sewed buttons on shirts and used my pins to pull yarn that got snagged in sweaters. A home made kit like this would be a wonderful gift and fun to make!! Better yet, I could cut out the pieces and have my craft club ladies make their own for our monthly craft club project! Love, Love this set!

I love how it’s not just useful in the primary manner, but changeable to be a pocket on a gift bag, little cards, with scallops or without. I was going to wait, but I love that sentiment stamp. And I’ve been looking high and low for something for my spinning guild’s (spinster, not exercise bike) yearly auction. I’ve decided on a large mason jar with some tiny sheep (in a Tinsel and Tags dome)with a scissors holder and needle book (decorated with sheep)and hand stamped tags. So I’ll have to order it when it’s released lol.
