Money! My husband & I have been doing tough for a little while now. We give our kids everything they need but we sacrifice a lot ourselves. My husband surprised me this morning by sneaking $200 into my purse so I could splurge on groceries & have a stress free week. I was so excited. I havnt bought the groceries yet but I did buy my 4 year old son a pop up dinosaur book which he loves so much he’s sleeping with it in bed! It’s definitely going to be a great week ๐Ÿ™‚

  • 11

The greatest keychain ever! I bought it on Etsy – this woman took a baseball apart, embroidered my son’s name and jersey number on it, then folded it in half and re-stitched it and made it into a keychain. Baseball season is right around the corner and I can’t wait!

I keep my younger daughter’s learner’s driving permit (she’s now active duty military) and a note she wrote me from boot camp in my purse. When I need courage, I look at that permit and read her note. I think of where she is and what she’s doing and I tell myself that nothing can scare me because I’m the mom of a Navy Sailor and I was brave enough to teach her to drive when she was in high school!

  • 27
    Julie Rae says:

Ditto on the money comment! But seriously, probably a flash drive. YUP, in my sixties and granny has the need for speed, or um storage.

  • 34
    Pamela Burke says:

I must have the most boring purse in the world. I carry a very small purse with a few essentials that are probably in every woman’s purse! The only surprising thing would be a folded up $100 bill that my husband makes me carry hidden in my wallet only to be used in extreme emergencies. Does buying PTI stamps count as an extreme emergency????

I watch for opportunities to give them to friends – and strangers – who appear to need some encouragement. And friends come to me for the bookmarks to give to their friends.

A plastic caterpillar. My son gave it to me years ago, not even sure why, but I told him I would keep it with me at all times. I think I was going on a trip or something and he wanted me to have a reminder of him. Of course I still have it, probably always will.

I would have to say money. The past couple of weeks we have been a little cash poor but a great exercise in being resourceful, using what is on hand.

A surprise in my purse – I have a gum wrapper with NO GUM in it! Someone playing a joke on me, but I was probably supposed to find it last April Fool’s Day but hey, looks like the joke is on them!

The only “surprising” thing I can think of in my purse is a miniature horse brush (on my keychain lol!) Don’t know what it is about things made in miniature; but they’re always so cute! And the brush reminds me of my little furry friends at home.

I don’t have anything surprising in my purse or wallet but I do have something special. “I love you mints” which are in beautifull box. I received them from USA from my boyfriend. ๐Ÿ™‚

The most surprising thing in my purse right now is a compact super magnifiying glass you just never know with all the fine print these days!

    Kathy W says:

There is nothing surprising to me in my purse and wallet; they are both small, so I am very deliberate about what goes in them. To others, the most surprising thing might be an extra pair of contact lenses and/or some band aids for paper cuts.

I think the most surprising thing in my wallet is all of the old photos I carry around. My kids are grown now, but the pictures are when they were babies and in school. I haven’t updated them at all, and they are bound in a grungy wallet photo protector. I know it’s easy to pull out the phone to show updated pictures, but still–it’s nice to see a real photo, too. Time to craft a solution!
