Italy. Rome, Florence, Venice, Sorento, Verona, Tuscany. Wine, food, people, history, architecture, photo inspiration up the wazoo. Gelato! So many reasons why. I had a kids book I used to just love. There was a two page spread depicting a foreign market with all these sausages and pastas and cheeses in the little shop and the name was something I knew wasn’t English but at the time didn’t know if it was Italian or what. But I equated that photo in my mind’s eye to what it must be like on market day somewhere in Italy. Since I was a kid I’ve had the desire to travel to Italy. My hubby and I vowed that for our 15th wedding anniversary, if we haven’t been there by then, that will be the year, no matter what. Ciao Bella!

Italy! That beautifully photographed country shaped like a boot. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to visit. I had this book that had a two page spread of a market day, and one of the pages showed a round man with a big black bushy mustache handing a roll of sausage to a mother with a hankerchief on her head holding the hand of her child. It looked so foreign to me – where I grew up in the grocery store the meat ailse was as exotic as it ever got. I was mesmorized by that two page spread of market day. I don’t recall the name of the book, the author, the story, but I can’t forget daydreaming about foregin market day, different style buildings, different people to talk to and listen to. Ever since then – the need to go there is strong. I’m early 40’s now, and I still have not been to Italy. But, my 15th wedding anniversary is only two years away, and my hubby and I promised each other that if we have not gone by then, that will be the year. Viva la Roma! Ciao Bella!

I would love to visit Ireland! I have for many years had a deep fascination with this country. From the rich accent to the Connemara Marble, vast sheep fields, to rolling hills, Belleek Crystal, and Claddagh symbolishm. I would be thrilled to see this wonderful Country and study how many of the items listed are made. I have a few Aran stitched sweaters made in Ireland and I just love them. Of course, the Outlander series has made the history so much more richer for me.
