Welcome everyone to the January 2013 Papertrey Blog Hop! We are so thrilled to see you here! First, the challenge…

Last month the focus was one white, and this month we are going to turn our creativity towards black! I have been drawn towards using black backgrounds for projects for a few months now and I find that it really allows the color combination to pop from the page. Here is your chance to try black as a background yourself! Pair it up with a bold geometric design or a brightly colored bouquet. Heat embossing looks so elegant when used on a black background. And don't forget how well white ink will show up as well. Just pull out some black cardstock and have fun experimenting with a brand new look for a brand new year!
I have included an inlinkz list below for you to add your link to your blog hop project. This type of link list will allow you to select a thumbnail to go along with your link, making it easy to go back and find a project later that might have perked your interest.
You have until 11:30pm EST tonight (January 25th) to add your link to this list. THREE random participants will be selected to win a $25 PTI Gift Certificate to spend however they choose. They will be announced and highlighted here, on my blog, tomorrow morning. We look forward to seeing all of your creations!
EDITED TO ADD RANDOMLY SELECTED WINNERS
Teddra kept it simple with this black & red color scheme. I love how she added shimmer and shine to the decorative elements stamped along the bottom edge of her card.
Leigh Penner adapted this fun challenge to ths grogeous scrapbook layout. The pastel hearts paired with the black is an unlikely combination, but the contrast really works well and helps add emphasis to the photo.
Cammie Murphree created this gorgeous pillow box with a few simple stamps. The bright oranges and yelows that she used to color in the flower are a stunning combination with the black. I love how she opted to heat emboss the frame too.
Congratulations to all the winners! Please be sure to contact customer service with the email address you would like your $25 gift certificate sent to. Thank to everyone who played along! With over 200 entries, we certainly all have a lot of inspiration to browse whenever we need ideas for using black backgrounds!!!

Today’s hop was like one long technique fest. Amazing some of the things that work well on black. Maybe even a few ideas for MIMs. It doesn’t hurt that you folks have the best color palette out there, and every one of those colors is dynamite with black. The number of great submissions should speak for how well we loved this challenge. Thanks for hosting all the inspiration.
