My birthday card 2 years ago from my mom as it was the last birthday she was alive. I will cherish it.

The best card I’ve ever received in the mail was a handmade just-because card from my mom. It’s always nice to know you are loved and thought of at no occasion at all! 🙂 Happy release night!!
liz says
The best card I’ve received has to be a card from one of my good friends. She is really starting to get into PTI and stamping and has come a long way. I know a lot of love and thought goes into each card I receive from her as she always wants to impress me!
Michelle says
I think the best card was a ‘random’ card swap, that was a birthday card, that had a cute little message in it from someone who didn’t know it was my birthday, ON my birthday! It was great!
Denise says
It was from my friend, Sue, and she made it just for ME…. not only was it beautiful, it was super sweet and made my birthday so special.

The best card I received in the mail was from my 7 year old daughter. She had stayed at her grandma’s for a week and it was right around my birthday so she made me a card and mailed it to me.
DebbieD says
Best card was from my daughter for my birthday. She’s always so thoughtful and she made the card herself – she was only 12 or 13. Love it and very special to me. 🙂

I received a “thank you for your friendship” card recently. It was so nice because it was completely unexpected and was such a nice surprise! Love when that happens! It also contained some fantastic goodies from a crafty buddy!!! Wonderful release team!!!

My Grandma used to send great cards-not handmade, but still very special to me.

The best card I received in the mail was the one telling me that my friend, who had been unable to have a baby for 12 years, was unexpectedly pregnant. She now has the most gorgeous, adorable little girl.
Jessica Davis says
My mom usually send the cards for the whole family. She used to have us sign our names, but after awhile, even that quit, so when I receive a yearly Valentine from my dad, personally, it is very special. One year, he even hand made the card! He writes a very personal message inside, too, and I look forward to it every year 🙂
Kelly says

Kimberli Sarsfield says
The best card I’ve received in the mail–a card that my aunt sent to me after my grandma’s funeral that had a letter in it written in my Grandma’s handwriting. It reminded me how special she was and what an amazing influence she had on my life. I still remember the card — a bear in a ballet costume (I was 9 yrs old). I’ve kept that card in my keepsakes box and it still makes me smile after all these years.
Ang says
My sister always send me the nicest and most meaningful cards on my birthday. We are best friends and so lucky to have each other.
Thanks
Ang

A handmade card from my son. They made it in school and then put it in the mail! So cute and it is tucked away in a safe place!
Leigh Ann says
The best card didn’t actually come in the mail…it came from my husband, hand delivered. It said what was on his heart…something I don’t always get to see, so it was very special.
Dana Gustafson says
A handmade one from my very dear riend….she just thought she’d let me know how much she cares! *so sweet* like a little ray of sunshine in my mailbox!
Sandi D says
A birthday card made by my cousin (a newbie to scrapping) that she spend a lot of time on to make it very special for my 62nd birthday. She even put a “glitzed up” 62 on the front. Would you believe that I called her to ask what significance the “62” was? I had forgotten it was “that” birthday!!! We had a good laugh and it makes me smile every time I look at it.
Anna K. says
My favorite cards are the ones my mom sent me periodically when I was in college. She’d take a picture of something at home – her decorated shelf in the dining room, a cat in the sun, flowers on the porch – and just cut 4 slits in a piece of 1-cent colored cardstock from our local family-owned printing company and tuck the photo onto the front of the card. She always laughed at how silly they were, but to me they were so thoughtful. Even though I went to school only 2 hours away, it was so nice to find a little piece of home in my dorm mailbox!
Becky C says
The best card I got was a thinking of you card from a friend when hubby was going through cancer. It cheered me up knowing someone was thinking of ME in the midst of his sickness.

When my god son was 2, he painted on a card, then signed his handprint and sent it to me. I was on 15 and smitten! Now he’s 23 but I still have that card! One of my most treasured possessions..

My best card was from my daughter who was 6 at the time, it just says “I love my mom and she loves me” with two little stick people holding hands…LOVE IT!
Kelly Pitzlin says
A few days ago, a thinking of you card from a dear friend. My sister had a serious head injury 2 weeks ago, and my friend was thinking of me!
Sharon D says
My father’s cousin, whom I’ve never met that I know of (possibly I met her when I was a small child and don’t remember), sends me a birthday postcard every year. It’s always vintagey and sweet. She does this just because she likes to keep in touch with us, since we are some of her few relatives (my father died many years ago). I’m always touched that she remembers me.
Pamela says
I don’t know about “best” but certainly the most precious was a Christmas card from my grandmother a month before she passed away — because it is the last card I ever received from her.
Beth says
The best card I ever received was from my niece, Jenny. It had poodles on it(her favorite dog!). I love it because she made it herself.
Shelly says
The best card that I have received in the mail was from my grandmother after the birth of my first daughter. My grandmother died 3 months later and her card is the last tangible thing that I have of her. When I look at it, I remember how much she loved me and all of the happy times that we spent together. We never know when we send a card to someone, just how much it might mean to them. So send those cards that you make!!
GLadys says
It’s a surprise birthday card i recevied from a long lost friend! It’s a surprise that she still remember it!
Jen Barkdull says
Actually the best card I received was a store bought card from a friend just a week ago. I had seen her in the grocery store and had just had a really bad day. Apparently she bought it that day and sent it in the mail right away. It totally lifted my spirits.
DiAnn says
The card my husband gave to me on our wedding annivsary of 40 years. Amazing how I still love this man after all these years. And he never says anything about my stamping addiction
Gen says
Iwould have to say that the best card is from my brother who never does send birthday cards and that year he gave me an extra year so I sent it back and he resent it the following year I guess it is the thought that counts and the smile it brings to those who receive them. So when i start making complicated cards that i don’t finish I try to remind myself to keep it simple and finish the project to bring a smile.
ChrisTea says
The best card I ever received was a homemade card from Dana (granolagirl2). I won a contest on her blog and the card was part of the congratulations. She used LLH, doilies, and sheet music – soft pinks and a pop of hawaiian shores. Beautiful. Seeing the skilled work of someone you highly admire just sitting there is your hands in an incredible experience.
Marcia Truslow says
Sounds funny to say this, but the best cards I have received are those I have made with PTI stamps, given away as gifts, and then received back with thank you messages! How cool is that?! I am always so surprised and pleased, believe it or not….
Jessica Griffin says
My gramma always says: “I love you to the moon and back” before we hang up, and she mailed my daughter a card for her birthday, and on the actual card itself was printed: “I love you to the moon and back.” I started crying when I saw it!!
Maureen Plut says
Hmm…hard to say, but the two that pop into mind are a fabulous St. Patty’s birthday one given to me by a dear friend AND a Future Diva one she gave me over a year ago…AND it came true, I’m now a Diva for a Stamp Company 🙂
Paula I says
I don’t get many cards in the mail. My favorite is actually favorites…the Christmas cards from friends, family and neighbors. Every year I so look forward to sending and receiving them.
Anita Farrell says
I received a Thanksgiving card in the mail from my daughter when she was in kindergarten. Her class had made and mailed cards for the parents telling us how thankful they were for us. Getting those sweet words from my daughter saying I was the best mom ever and how much she loved me was priceless. That was seven years ago, and I just took the card down off of my office wall about six months ago.
Debbie Sheffield says
The best card I received in the mail was one handmade by my 4-year old grand-daughter for no special reason other than to say she missed me. I keep the card in a special keepsake box and pull it out every now and then.
Kara says
Any from my grandmas. Each one may be the last I get from them, so I treasure them all.
Sharon says
the best cards were ones that my children hand made growing up

The best card I received actually didn’t come in the mail. It was a Mother’s Day card my 8 year old daughter made for me with her very own craft supplies. It had lots of glitter and some misspelled words and I will cherish it forever!

The best one I have received is a card that my daughter made at school and I was not expecting it. It is always nice to get hand made cards in the mail!! I love it.
Sallie says
Probably a card from my Mother when I was in college as a freshman. No special ocassion, just a “Thinking of You”, store-bought card. It meant a lot.
Cindy Otto says
I would say a card my son sent to me while away at college thanking me for all I’d done for him. It was the first time he wrote his true feelings. I still have it and will keep it forever.
Shannan Teubner says
I can’t pick one…but the entire box of cards that came from all over the world when my husband died are all so precious to me. There was one day I got TWENTY THREE cards in the mailbox! ONE DAY! So much love.
Karen B. says
There is more than one best card. The cards my sisters send me are hand made also, and they are always very nice. Also, when my Mom sends me anything with her writing in it, I love it. (my Mom is not a big writer, so I love to receive her hand writing even if it is on a slip of paper or note) I save all of the hand made cards I receive from my sisters and the notes from my Mom with her hand writing. 🙂
Sheila says
The best card I received in the mail was actually a postcard from my husband who was then my boyfriend. He was on his first out of town trip for work and sent it from Cincinnati just to tell me he loved me and that he had a surprise to show me when he got back home. The surprise was showing me our first house that he was going to buy. I will always treasure that card as it was the start of our 20 year marriage that started only a few months later.
Michele aka Derbylea says
I love any card that comes in the mail, even the storebought ones. My favorite though was probably the one from Cheryl (on the message board) it was for Mother’s day and what she wrote inside was hilarious. I still have it.
louise Charlton says
The best card I received in the mail was from my daughter. It wasn’t stamped, but she put it together herself with a photo of her and her dog Piper. It was beautiful and made me very happy!
pegg says

The best card that I have received in the mail was a congratulatory card from my friend, Maureen. It is still on my desk, six months later!

The best card I ever received in the mail was from my granddaughter. She knows how much I love homemade cards so she made one and sent it to me. Love It!
pmm says
The best card I ever received in the mail was from my dad, a man of few words. I was away in Navy bootcamp (back in the mid-70s) and he wrote me just a few lines. I got the most cards that day of anyone in my unit because it was my birthday, but those few lines from him telling me he was proud of me have stayed with me my whole life.
Joni kix says
I received a sympathy card for the passing of our dog. It was so nice that some people realize what a part of the family a pet can be.
Jan Knapp says
My favorite is a sweet thank you card for a handmade quilt from an adorable 7 year old girl that a friend of mine adopted from the Ukraine. It was in her own handwriting and in English (she could barely speak it at the time). I gave her the quilt at the ‘baby shower’ because I think every child should have a baby quilt. It was blue, yellow and white – the colors of the Ukrainian flag – with dotted swiss, flowers, buttons and lace.
Charmaine says
It was a card I received from a friend. She was just getting into stamping, with a little push from me, and it was one of the first cards she made. It sits on my crafting table.

Aimee Rathje says
I received a beautiful handmade card in the mail this year after some tough times…it was a late christmas/thank you card. It came with such a simple message of thanks…and sharing that it moved me to tears. I have it pasted up in my china cabinet so I can see it when I’m having supper at the table and remember how we all touch one another’s lives in even the smallest and simplest of ways.
Suzanne Russell says
My favorite card(s) comes from a sweet friend who always chooses a ready made birthday card with two little girls on the front. The sentiment is something special about our relationship which brings a tear to my eye and a laugh out loud. These have always been the inspiration behind the cards that I design and give to others.
SusanHnSC says
I’d have to say the last Christmas card my grandmother sent me before she passed away – she stuck a little pin in it that I had always loved!
K. Craig says
The best card I ever received was a rather plain storebought card with congratulations in various fonts. The outside was nothing spectactular, but my little brother sent it to me when I moved 12 hrs away and got my first “real” job. I had never before gotten a card from him, in fact, I called my mom to see if she told him to send it. The fact that he took the time to send a card and not just call me was pretty fantastic
Dorothy says

When I had my first son, I was having a hard time with motherhood. My mom sent me a really funny motherhood card in the mail, basically telling me to hang in there. It made me laugh so hard I cried at a time when I had a hard time even smiling. I will always remember that.
Myrna H. says
The Mother’s Day card my mom sent me last year. I was having extremely challenging parenting problems with my 21 year old son. the card was not hand-made, which is unusual for her, but the sentiment was so reassuring – it was exactly what I needed then to believe that I was not a failure as a mom, that his choices were just that – his choices. It was like being able to crawl into her lap like I did when I was a kid and my world was in chaos – truly a long-distance hug.
Amy Nemeth says
I get the divine privelege of being able to walk with people during some of the most difficult times in their lives. Seeing their lives transformed is by far the best gift I could ever get. But a thank you card they sent me with such sweet wishes was a pretty close second 🙂

It was such a blessing and that simple postcard was so encouraging.

The best card I received was from one of my stamping idols. I was still pretty new to stamping at the time and she sent me one of her amazing creations. I would have to say that the best card I have received was just a few weeks ago and it was from a friend that I haven’t seen a lot of until lately. She knew that I was going through a rough time and her heartfelt words were both uplifting and encouraging. I don’t think she knows how important that card was to me!

My best cards are from one of my aunts. She always finds the best cards. She never ever misses an occasion, and she remembers which person likes funny cards, which person likes sappy ones, etc. The whole family is in awe of her card-sending. Hmmmmmmm…… I have so many wonderful cards here from so many different people. It would be so hard to pick just one. That said – the first one I see on my hanging card wall is the one that Miss Kittie (yes, THE Kittie) sent to me after I had surgery a couple years ago. It’s just so sweet and SO Kittie-ish. I remember feeling so honored and thrilled that she would take the time to mail a card to me.

Could always use/give things away!!
Janelle says
This one causes me to think… I’ve received some great cards from lots of people, quite a few from PTI Forum members. One really cool little one I received was actually from Betsy Veldman when I won some blog candy from her blog. I kept stroking it to see if some of her magical skills would rub off on me. 🙂 (Seriously, though, she could’ve just stuck the magazine in an envelope and mailed it… it meant a lot to me that she included one of her creations with it.)

Suzie says
The best card I’ve received in the mail was after new year’s this year. It was from my grandmother who lives quite a ways from me. The best card I received in the mail was from my PTI forum buddy Sue Ann (yankeefan). I share my birthday with my Mom and a couple of years ago she sent me a card and I opened it up and it was her version of a homemade card. It had a stick person on it and of course hand drawn – Her version of a handmade card. I was so taken back that I couldn’t say a word or even laugh. Then the laugher took over til I couldn’t stand up. That was the best card ever! Later at diner she gave me a card but that little stick person card that my mother made is all that!

Before cardmaking was even in, my sister made me a card, made out of construction paper–had a really cute picture of me on the front, and then it said in the 2nd page of the card—“remember how you always told me I was adopted, well, it was you” and the 3rd page shows the dorkiest wierd looking family-and she wrote on that page–“I found your family and they came to take you back”. I looked closer and the wierd people were my mom, dad, grandma, grampa and little brother—from about 40 years ago–and they had the wierdest clothes on.

The best card I ever received in the mail was a Christmas card from my Granny. I got it over 10 years ago and for some reason, held onto it each year as I was packing away my decorations. While the card was not a handmade card, it was a card that was sent with great care and took a whole lot to get to me! This was an encouragement card that was much needed – since my husband had just had surgery for kidney cancer and I broke my elbow on my dominant arm one month later. The card was from a whole bunch of the members of my non-profit association from all across the country – so it took them a while to collect signatures, sending it from one state to another before it got to me. The effort they went through to get this card to me was significant. It just was wonderful and gave me the pick-me-up that we needed and reminded me of the “family” I have across the country. So thankful!

The best card I received was from my two sons (Luke & Zach) last month for my birthday!
While I was gone, they took a piece of cardstock, folded it in half took any birthday stamp the could find & stamped the whole inside of the card. Then they cut out mom on the front!
The best part, they took it over to my parents house (who live right down the road) and got an envelope & stamp from her to mail it to me!
That was the BEST piece of mail/birthday card I’ve ever received!
Talk about touching my heart!!!

My favorite card was a college graduation card from my grandparents. It was signed by both of them, and contained a handwritten note from my grandmother. It was a sweet note from someone who taught herself to read and write. It was a testimony to both of us for all of the hard work that it took to accomplish a personal goal.

The most special card I have ever received was from my grandmother on my birthday a few years ago. I save each of her cards, which is one of the reasons why I knew that this card in particular was the same one she sent me the previous year. The front read, “For a Great Granddaughter.” My family and I can’t help but giggle over how she thought “Great” meant “Wonderful” or “Super” instead of “Great Granddaughter” – as though my grandma’s mom sent it to me.
tanna says
One Valentine’s day about 10 years ago, my husband made me a huge heart card. He decorated it with glitter glue and sparkles. This was way before any of these items were readily available in our home. He sent it to me and it arrived exactly on Vday. I have it hanging over my desk as a reminder of the dear, sweet man that he is. I wonder if it had anything to do with me finding the world of paper crafts for myself. I sure love this art.

The best card I ever received was a handmade card from my daughter. This was before we discovered ‘real’ cardmaking, PTI, stamping, cardstock–anything. She just drew pictures and made up a bunch of puns. Now, she and I make cards together all the time (she’s 13), and it is such a nice thing for us to do together. She does all the Copic coloring on my cards, and I am helping her build her Copic collection.

Katie Gehring says
My dear grandma passed away on Christmas at age 89. Up until her death, she always sent the most thoughtful cards to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and other special occassions. Even though she didn’t create the cards, she wrote such loving words inside of the card she selected, opening it was like getting a big hug from her. In recent years, I know that it was difficult for her to get out to the stationary store, much less to the mailbox, but somehow she managed. If she was a few days late in getting a card out, she would beg forgiveness from the recipient. She seemed to understand that sending cards to people you care for is one way to show them how much you love them.

The best card I have ever received in the mail was sent to me by one of my ex-students. As a kindergarten teacher, I have always become quite attached to my students and this particular little girl was very special to me. She had come into my class with some very special needs and in time, I developed a very close relationship with her and her family. At the end of the year, I moved to a new state to take up a teaching position and had to say goodbye to her family. Not long after I made the move, I received a beautiful card in the mail from her telling me how much she missed me. The card itself (while gorgeous) was extra special to me because it would have taken her so long to do. It made the message even more touching. She must have such determination to complete it.

I have so many hand-drawn pictures from him, as well as jewelry and boxes made of paper. I bought him his own set of stamps and inks when I first got into stamping and we would both spend afternoons making cards. Whenever there is an occasion that warrants a card, he’s always the first to say “Mom, we need to make a card!”

When my husband was in the first Gulf war it was the first letter he sent after he had arrived Saudi. I had been waiting and waiting for that letter to hear in his own words what all he was experiencing and feeling. There’s nothing like seeing the handwriting of someone you love….it’s so personal.

Somehow, in the midst of it all, he had a bright moment and sent a wedding card to my newlywed husband and me. It was a typical store-bought card, not fancy by anyone’s means, but it meant the world to me. To know that in his daily battle, he thought of us and took a moment to let us know it meant the world to me. I’m so happy to say that two years later he’s a vibrant, happy 91 year old and I treasure each day with him and I still have that card.

The best card I ever received in the mail was a homemade thank you card from my niece and nephew. I had them over to let them use my craft supplies to make Christmas cards to give to their teachers and friends. They had so much fun we have turned it into an annual event.

The best card I received in the mail was the first one I received from my mother after moving away from home to go to a new university for grad school. I don’t car what anyone says … email, facebook, twitter, texting … these can never compare to snail mail and receiving a card or letter from loved ones! That’s why I love card making! 😉
Priscilla Heistad says
My best card came from my friend, Patti. It was a birthday card made from Dawn McVey’s Studio Style. It is my favorite card.
Lori Winters says
My girlfriend sent me a handmade card that had a vintage look to it of a girl kneeling down gardening. She had traced the girl from a coloring book onto shrinky-dink and had a vintage packet of seeds on the card as well. It reminded me of gardening with my grandparents when I was a small child and I keep it up on my bulletin board.
Tiffany H says
A handmade card made by three of my younger cousins. It had cute kid’s writing in crayon and stickers everywhere, but it was special to me because they had worked so hard on it and were so proud.
Robin says
Wow. what a difficult question! I would have to say a card I received from one of the people at OWH. I was still very new at making cards and I remember cherishing this card that she sent. It was the first time I had seen an impression plate. I actually think i still have the card on my desk! It was so sweet of her to send me a card.

The best card I ever received was a handmade baby announcement from a very good friend

My most memorable card (it was handmade by the way) was from my boyfriend. He surprised me with it along with a handmade pendant just for me on our first year annivesary. I am one lucky gal!

Geri Greening says
It was a card that I received from two of the youngest card makers that I know (girls aged 3 & 5). I had “surplus” supplies that I had given to an underpriviledged family and the girls made me a beautiful, TOTALLY bedazzled card from that supply…..honestly, the youngest probably used up 90% of the supply on one card but it was beautiful!
debby setlock says
The best card I ever received was from my cousin Linda and it had a note that said “Open Outside” because it was full of confetti. I had just received news that my PET scan was clear and she wanted to celebrate with me but lives too far away to give me a hug. The card was like a great big hug.
janice says
not sure my comment saved so trying again.
I would say the best cards I’ve received in the mail are from my friend Shannon every March 13th, remembering the loss of our daughter Desiree. Her remembering means more than I can ever say! Yesterday’s card said: The grace & love you shared in being Desi’s parents is not erased nor diminished in her loss. I believe that this kind of love is magnified in its rare perspective. In you both is seen that this kind of love can be celebrated and understood only through the awareness and truthfulness of Eternity. Knowing how well Desi was loved here on earth is truly worth celebrating all the days of your lives on both sides of heaven…. I am blessed by her love!
Rema Timm says
The best card I received was a homemade one made by my children with crayons for Mother’s Day. It touched my heart and made me cry…..
Sherry says
My children make me cards every year for Mother’s Day. I have each and every one and will cherish them forever!
Michele says
The best card I ever received in the mail was from my Grandfather for my 8th grade graduation. He included a letter to me about my high school years and growing up. We were not very close and I only saw him a couple of times a year. The card and letter from him were totally unexpected. This is one of the few things I have held on to from my childhood. I was stumped for a second by the question. Thanks for reminding me!
Jennifer S says
The best card I ever received in the mail was from my husband. He had already moved to Pittsburgh, and I was still in Seattle with the kids. He sent me a sweet card just to say he loved me and missed me. I still have the card and look at it every once in a while. Even though I see him every day now, those beautiful words he wrote on that card still make me smile!
Charlene R says
I just had my birthday on the 10th of March and I received a card in the mail from my Dad today. It is the most beautiful card he has ever sent me and he is 84 years old. It made me cry! My Mom passed 11 years ago and she always picked out the cards. Since she has been gone his new wife of 9 years has always picked them out. But this one was from him to me and I could tell he bought it! I’ll cherish it forever!
stephanie says
The best card I received was a Valentine from my husband. The sentiment was sooooo very thoughtful and perfect from him and I know he looked at 3 different stores before he bought it!

Vickie Johnson says
The best card I received, from a friend. She sent a homecard Thanksgiving card. It was a turkey, patchwork, it was adorable.
Sara says
I don’t get cards in the mail much anymore. It’s sad that letter writing and old fashioned snail mail isn’t very popular anymore. I couldn’t pick just one favorite card I’ve recieved though, because any card my Sunday School teacher sent me was special. She always put so much thought into her message and made it from the heart. I miss her so much but I still have all those cards from over 20 years ago!
Keva Brown says
The best card I ever received wasn’t mailed and wasn’t a single card..it was a pack of handmade cards given to me by my husband 6 years ago. He’s gone so much with deployments that he often misses holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries. That year (when him being gone was still new..lol), while I was asleep, he made me cards for my birthday, our anniversary, Valentine’s Day, and Mother’s day and put them in dated envelopes. It was SO cute and sweet. They weren’t the prettiest cards, but they WERE the best.
Barbara M says
The best cards are from my Mom. She is not crafty at all so she buys them but at least she is thinking of me!
YvetteT says
It has to be a homemade birthday card from my honey. I always make cards for him and his family. It was so super sweet that he took the time to make the card for me (even though it was made with my supplies hehe).
Julie E says
The best card I received in the mail was an unexpected Birthday card from a blogging buddy. It was a wee bit belated, but that made it all the better because it was a happy surprise. I cherish any handmade card because I know how much time, effort, and thought is put into it. That is why I enjoy crafting, to share a little bit of myself with everyone else.
Carole (FibreJunky) says
That’s a really tough question!! I was gong to say a card that I’d admired on a friend’s blog that she then sent to me as a surprise one day when I was feeling down…but I got to thinking. I still have the very first hand-made card I ever got, and it was from our neighbours on my 13th birthday. Several houses down from us was a little old couple and the wife’s sister, who also lived with them. They ranged from their late 80s (the sister) to early 90s (the husband.) Mr. Moore drew a little duck in rainboots on the front of the card and wrote a little rhyme inside. They all signed it.
Although I guess that’s disqualified, since I didn’t get it in the mail…it’s still the best card I’ve ever gotten.
The first one I mentioned would then have to be the best one I’ve gotten *in the mail.*
Debbie Littlejohn says
The best card I ever got in the mail was the first one my son made for me when he was a little kid….that was 20 years ago.
Mary Beth S says
It was a birthday card sent to me from my Mother-in-law telling me how much she loves me.

I received a card from my sister and on the front she had drawn an inviting garden setting that was so detailed that I framed it. She is so artistic but is so modest about her talent & calls it her doodling. I will treasure it as I treasure her.
Verna says
Forty-two years ago my then-to-be husband sent me a card that said he had a dream and I was a part of it. It has been quite a wonder!
Lori Weinberg says
Any card from my sister. She has always written me cards just because and it always brightens my day!
Nancy B says
Any homemade card means so much to me because I know the person really thought about me and what would please me and also took the time to put it together. That said. My family always seems to get just the right card for me. I never can find those cards in the store, but they can and I think that’s harder than making one.
Jen Carter says
When my husband & I were engaged, I was away at college for part of the time. He sent me a card once to be funny that was in Spanish that I couldn’t read and he had no idea what it said and so he wrote that we can pretend the card says whatever he wants it to. The problem was that he didn’t realize that the translation was on the BACK of the card which said, “Happy V-day to my husband…” I laughed really hard at that!!
carole kerr says
when I had to put my dog down I was devasted. My 8 yr old niece made a card for me. She used a set of dog stamps and colored it with crayons. I cried when I read it and have it stored with my pics and tags that are waiting to me to scrap. Priceless memories and one great kid!
Allene Frederick says
When I was in elementary school, I would write to my Great-Grandmother. She once sent me a card in response to a letter. The card is in the shape of a cross and contains the Lord’s Prayer. It’s about 30 years later and I cherish that card with a message in my Great-Grandmother’s handwriting. I keep it tucked in my Bible.
Lynn says
I have two favorites from the last few years: first is from my cousin who lives in England (we live in Ohio); she is suffering from severe epilepsy, but has recently taken up card making. She’s finding it very relaxing to make cards. My second card(s) are from my nana. She is 92…and going strong. She sends me cards with photography. They are beautiful pictures she has taken of her own oil paintings or fresh flowers. Always gorgeous! Thanks so much for the chance to win!
Fayrai says
The best card I received in the mail was from a fellow crafter that I had never met. It just warmed my heart to know that there are such kind and giving people still in the world that care about people and not just things.

I love the cards I received in a secret stamper card exchange some years ago. It was so much fun–each week for a month was a different theme that ended with everyone meeting. I still have all my cards I received. Thanks so much for the chance to win.
Terri C. says
I make a bunch of cards and give them to my Mom so she always has a supply of cards to send out to my huge family and last year for my Birthday I got the mail and found one of my hand-stamped cards addressed to me from her. If I say so myself it was a GREAT card.
Mindy W. says
The best card that I received was a card that came from our church’s card ministry team. At that time, I was very nervous about an upcoming surgery and just knowing that they had taken the time to make me a hand made card I knew that they were really praying for me. That was my first introduction to cardmaking…I’ve been hooked ever since 🙂
Tammy says
a handmade card with a bookmark made from PTI’s All Booked Up set. Seeing how pretty her bookmark was made me put this set on my wishlist. 🙂
nancy nelson says
My sister sent me a birthday card that she had made with a picture of the two of us when we were little girls. Because of certain circumstances in our life we have just a handful of pictures of our childhood. Receiving that card from her with the most beautiful words inside and the rare picture of the two of us was something I will never forget!
Bonnie Ditto says
My daughter sent me a homemade card. It was special because she made it for me and she printed the sentiment on the inside upside down. We have shared many a chuckle.

I love the cards I recevied from one of my stamping idols. LOL! It was super fun to get that mail.
It’s a good life!

Wow – it is definitely hard to pick the best, since I mostly send them out instead of getting them. However, just last week I received a thank you card from Mary Dawn here on the forum. I recognized the sketch (I think a Make It Monday), but hadn’t used that sketch yet. The card has been sitting out on my table so I can keep looking at it, and just yesterday came the inspiration for the thank you cards I need to make for my son’s wedding in May. So thanks Mary Dawn for the inspiration!
michelle m. says
A card from my mom just telling me how proud she is of me in the choices I’ve made and the life I live!
Beverly says
I think it was a Christmas card made by my 82 year old mom. I had been there in the summer and bought a brass stencil that I loved at a convention I went to. I had seen a demo on how to glitter it. I showed my mom, and then gave her all the stuff because she loved it so much. It took a few calls to remind her how to do it, but at Christmas–there it was!!
Kristen says
I received a card from my mother-in-law explaining why she had been hurtful in the past and would like to be more embracing and positive in the future. This was a wonderful blessing because even if she doesn’t always follow through, I now feel assured that her intentions are the best regardless. This has made me feel empowered, loved, and accepted. I keep it in my nightstand and often use it as a bookmark. (Probably deeper than you were looking, huh?)
GinnaG says
I get few cards in the mail, but I do get cards occasionally from my dear friend Janet. Her messages are always so sweet and thoughtful. Always about our friendship and how much it means to her. Every once in a while I get a card from her that is from a set of cards that I had made for her. It is such a feeling to receive one of these cards back every so often.
Joyce says
The best card i have recieved was a card given to me by my husband for Valentines Day. He truly picked one that said how he felt from his heart. It was a very special card and had a lot of meaning. Every Valentines Day he hand picks a card that truly says how he feels. Very special. Luv him dearly!
Kathy H says
When I was 21 and packing to move to Dallas Texas my father stopped by to say goodbye. I’ll never forget his words “I really don’t expect much from you. You’ll never amount to much.” Those words hurt but I’d heard them from him for most of my life. I was the kid he’d never wanted,Iwas just in his way. 3 yrs later I was transferred to Houston so I wrote my dad to let him know of my whereabouts. Then I met and married my husband and soon after we found out we were expecting a baby. I was so excited and happy I called and wrote to everyone, including my dad. One day a few months before the birth of our baby, I received a card in the mail from a familiar address…my dad’s. When I read the card I wept and wept. There was the usual “congratulations” inside, but after that were these words…”I’m so proud of you”. This is my most favorite card ever!!
Marla J says
The best card I ever received was lovingly handmade by my very uncrafty husband. One year for our anniversary, right before we were about to move, he used the floorplan of our new apartment as the basis for a beautiful 3-D card. It took him a long time! I was so excited to move to a bigger place and to be celebrating an anniversary–that card meant so much.
Donna Simpson says

When my husband and I were teenagers(and before we were married), he joined the National Guard. While he was at Basic Training and later AIT, he would send me the sweetest cards and letters. I still have them! One of those cards in particular is my favorite because of the beautiful poem on the outside and the sweet message of love on the inside!
Carolyn Hassall says
When my grandaughter, who is seven, and I get together, she always wants to do crafts. With the scrapbooking and stamping supplies I have (way too much stuff!), we always have plenty to do and I always leave her with some supplies such as paper, stickers, flowers, diecuts, etc. She recently made a card on her own using some of these supplies and I enjoyed it so much because we share this love (obsession) with crafting. What a nice surprise to find it in my mailbox!
Helen F. says

The birthday cards that I receive from my father are always so very special. I know that he goes to that well known card store that is in every mall and reads every card in the “father to his daughter” section and picks one out for me. It’s always very beautiful and has a lovely verse….but each time I receive one I can’t help but turn it over to see how much it cost and think he paid way too much!!!lol!!!

The first one of note that comes to mind is from an old friend of mine. I’ve known her for close to 20 years now (and she was a bridesmaid in my wedding!). She was always very creative and inspired me creatively in lots of ways. However, we don’t get the chance to talk very often anymore and we live far apart. At Christmas, she sent a lovely card with her splendid handwriting and in it she included some wonderful gift cards for my family (as we had spoken earlier in the year about our financial struggles). It was completely above & beyond any expectations and so appreciated!

I would always love to open them up and unfold the message inside. She would tell me about how normal things were at home- it was so awesome to read the notes! The outside was always decorated using circles in different paper that were then glued on! My friends were always jealous about the amount of mail I got!

The best card we have recieved was a handwritten note from my husbands grandfather in Vietnamese. In my 65 years of life, I have received so many beautiful handmade cards from my Hubby, my children and my Grandgirls. I have kept them all! The ones that bring tears to my eyes are those I received 2 years ago when I was in the hospital very, very sick. The prognosis was not good…my hubby kept all my Blogging friends up-to-date through my blog on how I was doing. During that long, long time in the hospital, the terrible rehab sessions and the coming home and trying to get back my strength, I was comforted and shown so much LOVE with cards sent to me from those who only knew me as Glee from “Gleefully Done” on the web. Each and everyone touched my heart…I don’t have the words to tell you how beautifully made each was created and the sentiments of “get-well wishes” from people around the globe. As I write this, I am in tears because I feel so touched by so many people even today. Yes, I have kept them all in a very special place and I go through them when life gets me down. They lift up my heart and my soul!
Carrie says
The best card that I ever received in the mail was a card from a very good friend whom I hadn’t seen in a while asking to get together. It’s great to reconnect with an old friend. We don’t live in the same city anymore so getting together can be a challenge, but it’s one worth making!

The best card that I’ve recieved came from my 7 year old son this year. He made it in school for my birthday. On the outside of the card he wrote “To a loving mom”–just like a hallmark card. The best card I received in the mail was one from my husband just a few months before our 3 year anniversary. His job took him across the country for 4 months and I stayed at our house. I had a very hard time dealing with that and became pretty depressed. I still have the card…it said, “Darn Card! It gets to be there with you and I don’t!” It never fails to put a smile on my face!!

It would have to be a Birthday card I received from my now Husband…. It was the funniest card I’d ever read, but also the words he wrote n them were the sweetest… It probably had that effect on me because I was in love with the sender and did not think he felt the same want at the time :))
You see…We were pen pals and friends for 12 years. Each one of us too afraid to let the other know how we felt, because we did not want to mess things up, Ha! Little did we know…. We are now married for almost 10 years. And that card is one I will never forget, it made me laugh so hard I still laugh whenever I think about it. 🙂 it makes my heart smile :)I still have it 🙂
Thanks for the memory 🙂

The best card I ever received wasn’t a handmade card but rather a store bought Easter card. This was the best because I was stationed in Italy at the time and my mother always sent me a card for every holiday and she always signed for her and my father as he was a truck driver and most often gone when she needed to mail it. In 1993, he just happened to be home and signed for himself. He unexpectedly died the Monday after Easter Sunday therfore making it the best and most special card that I had ever received.

Gosh – probably the best card I received in the mail, was the most recent one I just got about a week or so ago. It was a quilted postcard, that also had stamping on it. It was a thank you card from a quilting buddy of mine and aside from being handmade, with beautiful fabrics, it was special because it was so unexpected.

I received a card from a teacher (my mentor and reason I became a music teacher—so MUCH more than a teacher) after I graduated. He told me all the things I would need to hear as I went off to school. I can’t pick a particular card but just the amazing outpouring of love and concern when my mom passed away is something I will never forget. There’s a lady at my church who has a real gift for writing heartfelt messages at moments when you don’t even know you need to hear those messages. The message was simple and encouraging at a time when I had not been elected to serve in a position. She simply said that she hopes I will “give the church another chance” to elect me. It really gave me a smile.
Lee Cockrum says
I can’t choose one specific one, but they were all from the same place. My vet’s office sends a sympathy card when a pet dies. They all sign it, writing something that they remember about your pet. It wasn’t handmade, but was truly from the heart. In 2006, my husband was stationed in Iraq. We communicated through internet and phone calls and occasionally through letters. Well, one day in the mail, I received this beautiful card that he had purchased in Iraq and written this sweet note inside. I cherished that card, and still have it to this day. I am the oldest of four girls. When I started college, my parents made sure that I received mail every single day. Some days there was a note from a sister. Sometimes a postcard from an aunt. Frequently a card from my Mom. My dad would put wacky sequences of letters across the seal on the envelope and I had to guess what they stood for. I didn’t find out until much much later that my mom had assigned everyone a day of the week, and that she kept a stash of cards ready so relativescould write to me who happened to be visiting the house. It isn’t a single favorite card, but a year’s worth. I still have very single one nearly 20 years later.
Diana says
I recently recv’d a Thank you card from my daughter’s friend in Denmark. Her Mother recently passed away and I had sent her a Sympathy card. As many have already said, my favorite and most precious card to me is hanging above my desk (for over 5 yrs), it is a card my mother made for me. It is the first card my mother ever made, it is very simple but beautiful, she even included ribbon. (She knows me too well, I can’t make a card without ribbon). I started making cards 10 yrs ago and she just wasn’t interested but always loved me to make cards for her. Then my birthday 5 years ago, I rec’d this beautiful hand made card from her in the mail. I love it! Thank you for a great question that let me share this special story.

The best card I received did not come by mail but was hand delivered. On Valentine’s Day last month. From my husband. It was handmade. By him. I was shocked! He ran across an old Martha Stewart show that I had taped where they demonstrated how to make pop-up cards. My husband is a fan of pop-up books and proceeded to make one! He even handcut a heart out of the middle of the front. When you open it, 2 figures hugging each other pop up. He put photos of our faces on the figures! He finished it off with a sweet handwritten note. I will treasure it always!!

A Christmas card from a friend 2 years ago arrived accompanied by a page of scripture that had been torn out of my friend’s old, worn out Bible. I was having a very difficult time that year, and my friend sent the page back to me hoping it would comfort me. Nearly 20 years ago, I had sensed that my friend was having a difficult time with some very troubling problems in life. As we sat in church together at college, I marked a passage in his book and gave it to back him, to let him know I cared and that God cared. Two years ago, that page of scripture came back home to me, after having saved this young man from suicide all those years ago (which I only learned about when he sent this page back to me), and having been a comfort to him ever since then. He figured I needed it back, and I did – desperately. I will never forget that Christmas card, nor the hand of God in life.
Lindsey Larsen says
It was a card from my friend wishing me good luck on an exam that determined whether or not I received my Master’s Degree. She cried writing it and I cried reading it.

Mine wasn’t a mailed card, but it’s special enough to me that I’m going to bend the rules a bit. It’s a handwritten note given to me in a little snowman box that came with my Christmas gift, and it says:
“I’m so lucky to have you as a friend. You are like my family. Hope the next year is filled with joy. Love you”
It was given to me by my second mother / lifelong friend, who passed away 5 years ago. Finding that little note tucked away in the box, after she died, reminded me just how lucky I was and how much I missed her. *sniffle*

Our son and daughter-in-law are graphic designers. For Christmas they designed a card that had a photo of them kissing the cheeks of their foster baby, who they hope to adopt. He was smiling in the center of the photo and light blue snowflakes had been added to focus on the little guy. The bottom of the card was folded up and had, “BABY it’s cold outside”. When the bottom of the card was folded down, it had, “warm up with the one you LOVE”. The “BABY” and “LOVE” were in the same light blue as the snowflakes, playing on the “baby love” theme. What a wonderful card, I will cherish it always.

I was living 1,000 miles away from home at the time, my husband was in grad school and our budget was tight. A few days before Easter I got a pretty Easter card from him. There is a choice of two:
1) Any card from my son — but especially a birthday card last year – he’d mistakenly picked up a Mother’s Day card because he liked the sentiment. So he marked out Mother’s Day and wrote in Birthday

Of course, I cried, because I couldn’t be there to comfort her. But in the end, she got through that difficult semester, and continued on happily through graduation!

It was a thank you card that I received last year from my aunt. One of my New Year’s resolution last year was to send a card for every birthday and anniversary to my immediate and extended family members. I did not know how daunting a task this actually was and the impact it had on its recipient. My aunt actually sent me a thank you card for sending her a birthday card…she was so touched that I remembered. And I too was touched by how much my card…something that I created…touched someone’s heart. I am moved in awe and wonder.

My late husband was a longhaul truck driver. Twenty-four years ago (before we were married), he sent me a “card” which was a folded piece of paper. On the front he had drawn a heart with an arrow and our intertwined initials inside of it. On the inside he wrote “Just wanted you to know that I will always love you with all of my heart.” It means as much to me today as it did then. 🙂

My first year away at college one of the guys I had dated in high school sent me a completely inappropriate card for Halloween. I was terribly homesick, and the card made me laugh and laugh and laugh. To this day I smile when I think of it. He meant it as a joke, and to make me laugh, and that is the way I took it. It really was just what I needed at the time. The inappropriate part? It was a picture of a boy in a ghost costume on the front, and the inside said simply “I’d rather be under your sheets.” Ahhh…youth!
Josiane says
The best card I can think of is a simple handmade card a male friend made for me in either middle or high school. The best card I received was from my son’s girlfriend, several years ago, when she was away at college. She expressed her thanks to me for all the little things I had done for her over the past few years and for being more of a mother to her than her own mother was. It was heartfelt and very touching. While I am sad that her own Mom is missing out on this lovely young woman’s life, I am very glad that I can be there for her. I will be there for her always, as she will become my daughter-in-law next year.

The best card I have received in the mail wasn’t hand made, it was store bought. Every year my grandfather would send me a x-mas card, even though I saw him just about every day! It was always some sort of “classic” design, ie, a house with snow…but I kept a few of them, and now that he is no longer here, I look back at them fondly…
thank you for producing such great products month after month…

A handmade Christmas card from my cousin who lives 1,000 miles away that I had lost touch with over the years. In talking with my mom on the phone one day (who also lives 1,000 miles away and sees my cousin on occasion) I found out my cousin was also into stamping so I told my mom to tell my cousin to send me a Christmas that year. Her card was beautiful! We now exchange handmade cards with each other! It was nice to connect with her after all these years and also find we had this crafty hobby in common. We were very close when we were young children and always enjoyed crafting together back then.

Oh my. Do I only have to pick one?! I’ve received so many cards but one that comes to mind is a wedding card that one of my dear friends made for me. It was just perfect! Oh, what a blast I’ve had since! 🙂
Jill Norwood says
I have received many wonderful cards over the years but the one that came to mind when I read your question is one that my Mom and Dad recently sent to me to tell me how proud they were of how I am handling my husband’s brain cancer. I was having a particularly tough time that week and feeling scared and overwhelmed and the card was just what I needed to pick me up and give me strength to continue the journey. I think any card that is given with love is special to the one who receives it – that is why I end up making more cards than scrapbook pages…there is something so special about spreading love via a card! The giver gains from creating it and giving it to the one they love while the receiver feels the care and love from the giver. Thanks Papertrey for your incredible products, your inspiration and your fun giveaways. 🙂 Jill / Seattle Wa.

I received a totally unexpected “just because” card from a friend who started stamping/card making around the same time I did. It was totally lovely, one because she used my favourite colour – purple – which she really strongly dislikes and two – I don’t see her much anymore as she moved away with her family and it was fantastic to see how much her cardmaking style had grown and developed in the past two years. Plus it just totally made my day that she was thinking of me, made a card and popped it in the post. xx

The first card I received from my blogging buddy Lauren … all of her cards are displayed in my home as art … they are truly masterpieces I will always treasure … just like I treasure her friendship.

I rec’d my all time fave shortly after I started stamping over 10 years ago. I joined a House Mouse group and I was RAK’d with a Halloween card and all the little meeces were all in homemade costumes and all dimensional. Lots of love and time went into it!

Missed the release (again!) but not because of work…
Please say your pryers for my friends…we lost a dear friend, husband, son, and father today in a tragic car accident. My daughter is devastated as am I…her best friend’s father…my good friend’s husband…it’s my nightmare of 9 month’s ago – losing my sister in a car accident…!!!! Why the tragedy? Nichole, you give me happiness and inspiration…I will be here visiting often – hoping for my chance to be part of a release night.
You are amazing!
