OK – I know this isn’t the norm, but I just watched Planes, Trains and Automobiles with my teenagers and we laughed so hard. It’s set at Thanksgiving and in the end when you realize that John Candy’s character doesn’t have anyone and Steve Martin goes back to get him and bring him home it’s great. Laughed our selves sick along the way. The moving still holds up! OF course, I think it’s from the 80’s and I love that decade. Can’t wait to get my hands on this month’s goodies. What a great collection of stamps, dies and accessories. Thanks Papertrey!

The Christmas Story. I can watch for the whole 24 hours of constant running on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. That movie brings back so many past memories of all of my Christmas pasts with my family and my only child. Today was an especially good day for this memory to come back.

At this time it is Polar Express. It is fun to see my daughter still believing in Santa. We saw a child last year pick up a bell in a store and shake it. Of course the little ball didn’t sound right and she said it was broke. My daughter overheard and whispered to me “she doesn’t believe, Santa won’t come see her”. We also have a little bell like the one in the movie and we “check” it when we take it out of the box.

I don’t anyone else would consider this a Holiday movie, but I associate it with Thanksgiving, What the Deaf Man Heard by Hallmark. In 1997, a few days before Thanksgiving I gave birth to twins 13 weeks premature, both were very small and one was not expected to make it through the day. I’m from TN and was living outside of Baltimore at the time where my husband was stationed. My parents had just made it in time for their birth. The first night after the girls were born, one having been transferred to Johns Hopkins earlier that day while the other was still at the birth hospital with me, though in the NICU, that movie premiered on tv and my husband and parents were there. My Daddy had to leave the weekend after Thanksgiving to return to work while my Mom stayed on, and I never got to see him again. One month to the day of my girls birth, he was injured in a work accident and died New Years Day 1998. That was the last movie I ever got to watch with him so it holds a very special place in my heart. It may not be what others consider, but at Thanksgiving I always like to watch it because of what it means to me.
Becky P. says
My favorite holiday movie is a Christmas Story. I still remember seeing it in the theater with my brother and sister, I must have been in jr. high. We laughed so hard we cried. Watching the movie always brings me back to that day. I cannot wait to share the experience with my children.

My favorite movie experience is watching my grown children watch A Christmas Story, spouting the lines from the movie as they watch, enjoying it so. (I do like Love Actually very much, too, and Holiday Inn, ….)
Katherine says
My favorite holiday movie is still Scrooge. I’ve always watched the musical version with Albert Finney and just love it. The tradition for me was to watch after everyone had gone to bed and cozy up with my tea and Christmas cookies. Once my daughter was old enough she started watching it with me, and now at 18, she still does. It’s really quite magical.
Lisa Petrella says
My favorite holiday movie is A Christmas Story!! It cracks me up every single time!!!

My favorite (and it looks like it’s also other people’s favorite) holiday movie is “It’s a Wonderful Life”. I watch it every year – and has become a tradition in our family to watch it. My favorite is “Scrooge” from 1951, done in black and white. I can remember being so scared as a child when the three different ghost came to Scrooge, sad that Tiny Tim could die and then happy at the final outcome. My second favorite is a Muppet Christmas, I watch it every year while decorating a tree!!!

Tammy W. says
Hmmm…Probably National Lampoon’s Christmas. Only because I tease my husband every year that our house looks like the Griswald’s and a plane will be landing in our driveway one year because of all the lights and decorations he likes to put up. Really it is done very tastefully and not overboard, but he really does love to decorate the outside of the house for Christmas. So, NL Christmas, because it reminds me of my husband. : )

Wee Sing’s The Best Christmas Ever! is a favorite. I watched it over and over again with my daughter when she was little. I challenge you to watch it without singing along.

Definitely the Polar Express. I didn’t have the greatest childhood and wasn’t in to Christmas and movies and all that. So the Polar Express is one that my children are in to. We put it in on Thanksgiving night and put it away on New Year’s Day. They watch it non-stop. The song with the little girl singing about kids and Christmas always makes me cry thinking of how happy I am with my kiddies now on Christmas and throughout the season…and every day really!

Miracle on 34th Street, It’s a Wonderful Life. But I would have to say that we really enjoyed Polar Express. When my son was young and at that stage where he wasn’t sure if Santa was real or not, when we watched this movie it made it possible… “if you believe”. For us, it’s all about the spirit of believing that anything is possible.
Claudia says
I watched Scrooged with Bill Murray during my teenage years; just funny. My favorite now is The Natvity Story. Why? Because it portrays the true meaning; we watch it with our kids every Christmas Eve now.

It would have to be A Christmas Story. My husband and I returned from our honeymoon on Christmas Eve to a house with no food and no grocery stores open. I guess it’s It’s a Wonderful Life, because that’s such a heart-warming classic. But when I was a little girl, I loved watching the TV show Frosty the Snowman. I also loved The Little Drummer Boy, and one year we got that song on a little 45 record–and we played it over and over and over and over. We must have driven all the adults in the house crazy.

Thanks for the opportunity to win! This was a FUN question to answer…hands down, A Charlie Brown Christmas is my favorite movie because it is a lovely reminder to count our blessings, not our troubles. All the Charlie Brown Christmas tree needs is a little dusting of ‘PTI glitter bling’ to make it sparkle! Thanks again for the opportunity to win…this was a nice question to answer!
Julie B says
Favorite Holiday Movie: Home Alone. It really is all about family, no matter how crazy. Sounds just like us! Terrific release, by the way.
Keva Brown says
Wow, my favorite holiday movie has to be Elf. We watched it a ton at Christmas abd then all throughout the year! When we first moved into our home, we didn’t have the cable hooked up yet so we ended up watching Elf every single day! It was such a fun time. I love Elf because Will Ferrel is hysterical, James Caan plays his role perfectly, and the story is just so great. The end always brings a tear to my eye and the thought of a family welcoming in a basic stranger as family is a lot of what the Christmas season is about to us. Hmm..I think I might go watch it now! đ
Taheerah says
I don’t have a favourite traditional Christmas film I’m afraid to say! I think they all have their place and I’ve not actually seen many of the Classics. Die Hard is set at Christmas, does that count?!
To be honest it’s music, specifically carols, that get me in the mood for Christmas rather than films. They really sum Christmas up for me.

(from the 70’s) I love it because it simply reminds me of the Christmases when I was a little girl. It was always my mom, my dad, my sister and myself and we watched that movie together. We now live so far apart that it’s the joy of the memories I treasure most.
Amy s K. says
Charlie Brown Christmas. Memories from childhood and watching with my children, so fun!
KariLynn says

My favourite holiday movie is The Holiday with Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, & Jack Black. I love the 2 settings – LA and a cottage in the UK countryside.
