Designer’s Challenge: Birthday Tag Kit

Day 13: Contest

February 13, 2010      Nichole Heady      525 Comments

A-contest

With all of the projects introduced using Studio Style & Year of Flowers :Violets, it got me inspired to host a special challenge today!

I have loved, LOVED, loved the "embellishment sheets" that Dawn McVey & Michelle Wooderson have been making over the last few months.  The idea of having fun making multiple little focal points like that and having them on hand for future use is such an inspiring concept!  Talk about a quick card!

Dawn's butterfly embellies

Mishie's violet embellies

In honor of Dawn & Michelle's creativity, the challenge today is to design some type of floral embellishment.  It can be as simple as stamped daisies with buttons tied to the center or as complicated as a multi-layer flower with individual beads stitched to the center.

After your embellishment designed, create a card using it AND one acetate sheet of 4-6 of the embellishments to send to/share with a special stamping friend!

1. Design a floral embellishment, then create a card using one and and an acetate sheet of them to share.

2. Upload a photo of your project & sheet of embellishments to you blog or online gallery.

3.  Add the link for your photo to the Mister Linky box below.

4.  Those that leave a comment about what they think about both Studio Style & Year of Flowers: Violets along with the projects here today, will also be eligible to win.  Those that create a project link in Mister Linky AND comment will have an extra entry. Only one comment per person please.

The-prize
We have an AMAZING prize package today that will give you a head start on making many of the projects showcased today!

A-few-things-to-remember

I really really love these flowers! So many things you can do with them. Thanks so much for thinking of us with a die as well – really looking forward to that (I hope it is a 2 die set with the large outline and then the center petals so we can easily make a dimensional flower like yours). Studio Style is too fun too!!! 🙂

The Violets and Studio Style sets are so nice! I do have an idea for a companion set, though. It would be great to have an empty jar stamp, so that we could “fill” it with anything we want – other stamps that might happen to fit OR stamps that you would include in the set, such as fruit, jam, or nuts and bolts for a masculine theme. Also coins, maybe some little pencils or marbles. I would buy this set in a heartbeat. 🙂

You have a natural knack for drawing flowers which was evident in the success of In Bloom last year so I’m thrilled to see you expanding the number of flower sets to be out once a month!! I love cutting out the blooms but I’m really pleased there’ll be a co-ordinating die too for when I’m feeling more lazy. ;o)

Flowers are my very favourite type of stamps and my friends laugh at me because I just can’t resist a new flower set…your projects using it are wonderful. I really like the softness of the vellum card and look forward to trying something like that. I really like Dawn’s set too and I didn’t “see” until you pointed it out that it was PTI ribbon … cool!! While I love both sets – the violets made me swoon. I think I can actually color those. I am always a little scared of flowers – my coloring skills are not too great and I haven’t ventured into copics – but with some paper piecing I may be able to make a really pretty flower. Studio style is fun…only none of my other friends are crafty – I suppose I can make cards and mail them to myself???

Typically I’m not a flowery stamp type of person, however, once again PTI has developed a concept I have fallen for – a flower representative of each month, plus a stamp for the month, and coordinating sentiments. What’s not to love! I appreciate that the stamp images will lend themselves both to coloring or simple line embossing. Studio Style is wonderful. I added that to my wish list as soon as Dawn posted a peek! The fact that the images look like PTI products seals the deal. Thanks too for introducing a number of $15.00 sets this month. It makes it a little easier on the pocketbook when there are so many great new products.

I’m thinking making a bunch of embellishments and sentiments on tags with a stack of pre-cut cardstock would be a great gift for my Grandmother. She is crafty, but being 90 years old its harder than it used to be. But with a nice “kit” she can just peel and stick and make wonderful cards to send out. As for Year of Flowers…I am so excited about this! Thanks for making it one of the ‘cheaper’ sets…I wish I wouldn’t have to wait a year to have the whole collection! Thanks for showing how to use it in so many different ways. Although I have a decent collection of copic markers, they intimidate me and I’m afraid of ruining a project.
