Introducing 2009 Holiday Tag Collection

When we first debuted the stamp set 2008 Holiday Tag Collection,
it was met with rave reviews and we knew we had really found a concept
that appealed to a large audience.  We followed suit with Tags for Spring, 2009 Halloween Tags & 2009 Autumn Tags! Now we are proud to introduce another member of the tag family, 2009 Holiday Tag Collection!

The details.

  • 2009 Holiday Tag Collection will be available for purchase on October 15th.
  • It will retail for $24.
  • 2009 Holiday Tag Collection contains 18 images total; 10 (1.75") tag images, 3 complimentary images and 5 sentiments.
  • tag images coordinate with 1.75" standard circle punch, 2" EK
Success scallop circle punch * Marvy (blue) super jumbo scalloped
    circle punch.

One fun thing about these sets, is that they are contributed to by our
entire group of stamp designers.  So, in other words, they feature a
wide array of styles & looks all in one set!

All of the circular tag images in these sets coordinate perfectly with both a 1.75-inch
standard circle punch and/or our new 2" EK Success Scalloped Circle Punch that we'll be carrying.  (The tag images also work great with Marvy's blue Super Jumbo Scalloped Circle
This product coordination allows you to easily stamp, punch
& go!  But don't let the name fool you!  These images don't have to
be just used for tags!  They make fabulous focal points for cards and
much, much more!

For my projects today, I thought I would illustrate the fact that you don't need to use these images for just tags!  For each project below I have taken the same "tag" and used it as it was intended and also as a focal point on a card front.

Merry & bright card closeup

The first tag image I used is what I have been calling the "Charlie Brown tree" because it reminds me of the one from the popular Charlie Brown Christmas movie!  This adorable image was contributed by Beth Silaika.  I stamped it in Ripe Avocado ink and then punched it out with our 2" scalloped circle punch.  The "Merry & Bright" sentiment was stamped on top of the tree using Scarlet Jewel ink.  Don't you love the clean & simple font?  It makes it easy to do layering like this and still have the sentiment be easily legible.

Merry & Bright card

To assemble the card, I created a Scarlet Jewel mat and stamped the bottom edge with Polka Dot Basics II using Versamark ink.  The bottom two corners were rounded with a punch.  This mat was adhered to the Ripe Avocado background that was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.  I notched both sides of my card front with my 1/8" hole punch and wrapped Rustic Jute Button Twine around the front a few times.  I love how easy this is, but yet keeping a certain level of sophistication & class.

 Merry & Bright tin tag

Next, I used the same tag on the front of a tea tin full of homemade shortbread cookies.  (You can read about how to make cookies that fit perfectly in any size or shape tin HERE).

Merry & bright tin

The tin is wrapped with Scarlet Jewel cardstock and held in place with Scor-tape (the 1-1/2 inch width is perfect for this type of application!).  Before adhering it, I stamped one row of polka dots using versamark ink.  A strip of Ripe Avocado Grosgrain Ribbon was adhered over the top of the tin, with the tag adhered to help it to stay in place.  I am totally head over heels in love with this project and it only took 10 minutes to make after I knew what I wanted to do.  Teachers & neighbors will definitely be getting these this year!

Let it snow card tag

The second project is all in shades of blue to provide some contrast from the last set.  The tag was stamped with Melissa Bickford's snowflake trio in the new & improved Spring Rain Pigment ink.  The "Let it Snow" sentiment is stamped directly on top of the snowflakes using Enchanted Evening ink.  The image was punched out with a 1.75" circle punch then matted on the same 2-inch scalloped circle punch used above.

Let it snow card

To make this tag into a card, I decided to go with a "half & half".  The upper half is Spring Rain cardstock stamped with Giga Guide Lines using Versamark ink. The lower portion is plain ol' vintage cream cardstock.  I did round the two outside corners of the card base.  Note that the grosgrain ribbon is looped under the tag as a design detail.  I do this technique a lot and almost always do it symetrically, but this time decided to go a different route.  I like the results alot.

Marshmallow Mug tag

Isn't this layering divine!  The Spring Rain button & Rustic Cream Button Twine are keeping the tag in place at the top of the mini Milk Made container I created to hold some homemade hot chocolate mix.  To save time (and I just liked the way it loooked) I didn't do a single thing to the Milk Made container, just plain kraft cardstock!  Keep in mind that having a tag provides all the foacal point you need with gift packaging!  It can save you so much time and effort!

Marshmallow Mug

This is a small gift item I created that could be made up for just about anyone!!!  I have been having some dear friends over for lunch quite often for the last few months and I was thinking that these would be perfect little favors to set out at each place setting when the weather gets colder.  If you simply wrapped them in a little cellophane they could also be transportable to teachers, co-workers and whatnot!

Marshmallow Mug contents

The contents of this Marshmallow Mug includes chocolate covered marshmallows and a mini Milk Made template for the hot chocolate mix.  The mini Milk Made template is perfect for holding a single packet of instant hot chocolate or a small bag of the homemade sort.  It's also small enough to tuck right into a mug!  If you haven't tried stirring one of these chocolate marshmallows into a steaming cup of hot chocolate before, you totally need to try it! So yummy! (ETA: Yes! I made the chocolate dipped marshmallows myself!  Just pierce marshmallows with shortened wooden skewers, melt chocolate, dip and set upright in a glass until the chocolate has hardened!  Easy Peasy!)

I don’t have any of the tag sets, but I do like how you have made them to fit more than one brand of punches. If I had one of these sets, I would make cute litte Peppermint Patty ornaments. I would use two punches, ribbon, and candy. Make a sandwich and your done!!!

love the look of this set! glad you showed other ways to use the set than just tags – I tend to focus on the ‘name’ of a set and thus haven’t purchased these before because I don’t do a whole lot of tags. Now though – need to rethink it all because these are just too perfect! not to mention – love the cute hot chocolate idea too!!
