I love to cook. Really. I love everything about
it. From the precision involved with
chopping, to the repetitive motion of mixing, all of it is a lullaby for my
soul in some small way. And not only do
I get the enjoyment of preparing the food, but I get to see my family gathered,
sitting around the table together to share a meal and savor the flavors that I
have brought together for them. It doesn’t get much better than that!
With my love of cooking comes a fascination with collecting
recipes and cookbooks. I have shelves
full of hard-cover editions from my favorite chefs. Envelopes exploding at the seams, that I once
established as an attempt to contain my ever expanding piles of magazine
clippings and computer print-outs. My
recipe box is stuffed with three different styles of index cards, in my attempt
to be organized. With recipes in more
than one place, it obviously tends to be difficult to find exactly what I need.

In an effort to bring organization to this area of my life,
I have been working for months on rethinking and redesigning what is considered
the *norm* in regards to recipe filing. Not only do we have a stamp set to offer you that is visually appealing,
we have an entirely new system that will carry you through for years to
come. It all starts with the card…

I have designed my own version of a recipe card, one that
will cater to how you actually USE the card, and look good too.

One of the things that always frustrated me most about
recipe cards is that you had plenty of room horizontally for the ingredients,
but not enough room vertically. Ingredients are easiest to go through if they are in a simple one-column
format. Our recipe card utilizes
vertical space perfectly, complimenting any type of list format.

The other thing I really like is being able to place the subtitles
where and when I need them. Especially
ingredients vs. instructions. In this
photo, I am showing you two of my favorite recipes. One of them only has a small handful of
ingredients, while the other one has an entire page. Because “ingredients” and “instructions” are
stamps in the coordinating stamp set, you can position them wherever you need
them to be to suit your needs.

So now that I have
given you a brief description of the actual recipe cards, why don’t I show you
a little project I made with them?

One of the neat things about this group of new products is
that not only can use them in your own personal space as a means of
organization, you can also make gifts, use them as a party theme and much, much
more, as the design team will be demonstrating when the new gallery goes live
on the 15th! Today, I thought I would show you a little something
that would be fantastic for either the holidays or a shower gift. I don’t know any cook, experienced or not,
that wouldn’t be appreciative of brand new stainless cooking utensils. My mother-in-law got me some as a gift a few
years ago and it was one of the best, most well-loved gifts I have received during
my adult years. I use them practically every
day! Ever since then, I have taken the
same opportunity with new brides, special friends for their birthdays and more,
I just put my own little twist to it!

I went through my recipes and picked out one to coordinate
with each type of utensil I had purchased. For example, pie server with pie (duh!), spatula with casserole, ladle
with soup, whisk with an egg dish, etc…

I then prepared recipe cards to go with each of the
utensils, displaying their coordinating recipe. In this case, I began by stamping the borders at the side of my cards,
followed by “from the kitchen of” directly underneath it. I wrote my name on each one.

To save time since I was making several cards at once, I decided
to customize a grouping of a few of the subtitles on a single block that I knew I wanted towards
the top of each card. It is easy to do
this and be sure that the subtitles are evenly spaced to fall between the lines
printed on the recipe card. Just place
the subtitles, word side down (as if you were stamping) in the position you
would like. Then press the block on top
of them to adhere them and pick them all up a once.

After I filled in the appropriate areas for the subtitles
that I just stamped, ending with the ingredients, it was time to add the
instructions. I stamped its subtitle
next. If the ingredients list was short
enough, the instructions usually began on the front, but other longer recipes
sometimes started on the back. This just
proves how versatile and flexible these cards & stamps can be.

After filling in all the recipe information for each card, I
prepared them to be tied to their coordinating cooking utensil. I placed a bull nose paper clip (from Target’s
office supply section) at the end of each card. I then threaded the BACK handle only of each clip with Ocean
Tides swiss dot ribbon (more to come about this NEW color later!) It just ends up having a much neater finished
appearance if you thread just one handle rather than both.

You can tie each card to the appropriate utensil. The good thing about cooking utensils is that
they almost always come with a hole in the handle so that they can be hung on
pot racks, or in your case, allow you to tie on some pretty ribbon!

Now that we had the utensils done, how about a box to store
them in? Did I mention that these recipe
cards, measuring 5-7/8 x 2-3/4 inches, were designed to store perfectly in our
exclusive egg box? (You just slip out the removable *egg insert*!) It is a super-sturdy &
well constructed box, made out of heavy-weight chipboard, its already a beautiful
white, perfect to act as a blank slate for you and your creativity. I started
by stamping some Ocean Tides cardstock with versamark using the leaf image from
First Fruits in order to create some papers that could cover the four sides of
my box. You will need to have two pieces that measure 6-1/4 x 2-1/4 inches and
two pieces that measure 4-3/8 x 2-1/4. I
was able to get a slight *linen* texture to the stamped image by kissing the
stamp against some linen fabric before stamping. Neat effect, isn’t it?

To adhere the leaf strips to the box, using a foam brush,
apply Mod Podge to the box and back of the paper. Be sure to do both the outside of the box and the paper, otherwise it may not adhere correctly. Set aside to allow to dry for about 15 minutes or longer.

Next, you want to put a nice layer of Mod Podge on top of your paper and up the exposed edge of the raw white box. I always use Matte Finish Mod Podge, just because that suits my taste and I like the finished product. Set aside to dry.

Once dry, you can go back in with a file and sand down any extra cardstock that doesn’t quite meet at the corners.

After completing that, it was time to work on the lid of the box. I stamped the small dots from Polka Dot Basics onto Ocean Tides cardstock with white acrylic paint and adhered it to cover the entire top. I then ran strips of Sticky Strip around the box lid in two places to affix ribbon bands.

I wrapped the ribbon all the way around to the interior of the lid. To cover the ends, I just cut a piece of white cardstock to size and adhered it as a lining. This kept everything clean and finished, like I prefer.

I used a piece of chipboard that I painted white as the sturdy base for the rest of the decorative elements for the lid of my custom recipe box. The scrolled label frame (heat embossed with white Filigree embossing powder) and *Recipes* title are both from a $5 mini set called Recipe Box Label. We are hoping to bring you more styles for the box top labels in the future to make the original recipe set even more versatile!

I used Mod Podge on the lid topper too, that way everything can be easily wiped off when there are food splatters or spills! I am in love with the detail of this frame, and I hope you are too!

I added a few bows to the front of the box using Gorilla Glue. Those babies aren’t going anywhere! I go the idea of this look from a cute storage box that I saw at a boutique a while back. I think it is such a pretty look, and we can all use a little beauty in the things we use every day!

I did something a bit different with the inside of the box. I wanted to make a divider for the roomy interior, so I cut a piece of foam core board to just a hair over 6-inches by 2-3/4-inches high. I then cut and scored a piece of white cardstock that could go up and over three sides of the foam core.

After adhering them together I had a divider that looked as though it had originally come with the box!

The great thing about this divider is that it fits snugly enough that it will separate the contents securely, so there is no need for adhesive.

This means you can move the divider according to number of recipe cards you have and to suit your needs. In this particular one, I placed the section dividers & recipes in the front, and then had room in the back for extra recipe cards and a pen to fill them out. Everything in it’s place, neat & tidy!

The only thing left now is the section dividers! There are nine subtitle section divider stamps in this set (see list in photo). They all coordinate with a 1-3/8 inch circle punch, making them easy to use. When adhering the circular tabs in place, be sure to hold one up to the box to make sure that you do not place it in such a fashion that it may be too tall for the box.

Here is the final ensemble. For packaging your special gift, you can
wrap each individual utensil in crisp white tissue and insert them
along with the recipe box in a pretty gift bag or basket! I think this
is such a personal and memorable gift that any recipient would be so

I collect recipe books and have a little room off my kitchen just for my collection. I have hand drawn/lettered many a recipe book for family and friends, this would make a wonderful addition. 🙂 My best friend and her husband are amazing bakers/cooks they could use a place to store their treasured recipes.

I love to cook and, like you, have a huge collection of cook books and recipes. I’ve been thinking a lot about how best to arrange my favorite for me (I have similar complaints about “prepackaged” recipe cards)SO, I’m really LOVING this. Perfect timing. Clever, beautiful design. I love this set and the egg box as a recipe box is AWESOME! Anything that helps me get organized is a must have, but it makes it fun as well! I LOVE to cook and collect many cookbooks. Oh Nicole I love this set! I already know what I would do with it! I would make up cards with Family favorites and things we have enjoyed tradition wise, or that my son really liked. I would enclose all the extras to add to the few I would fill out. I would then give it to my darling daughter-in-law along with a card so she knows it was sent with love and that it was some of her husbands favorites from the past, with lots of cards for her and his favorites together. I think that would be a great gift for her. (not too over the top mother-in-law-ish, I hope!)

Congratulations on another sure hit! I love your stamp set and recipe box idea. I do confess combining your other stamp sets with cute kid stamps to make cards and crafts. I just know I’ll be doing it again with this set. I’ll try to add baked/cooking images on the recipe cards and (plan to) laminate the cards when they’re filled up – to protect them from stains. Oh Nichole you have done it now! This is amazing. I do enjoy cooking but I tell my husband I would enjoy it more with a renovated kitchen and a 6′ granite kitchen island. Ha! My current recipe book is a wire note book that the recipes are glued or taped to and falling out every which way. I am so excited to get myself organized and get that mess cleaned up!! Very fun! Oh and only 9 more sleeps before I am Florida bound!!

I just recently donated over 2,000 cookbooks to local libraries in an effort to downsize my collection. I have found that the recipes that I prefer to make again and again, and share, are those that are handwritten and handed down from family and friends. I have organized, and re-organized my recipes many times over the years, searching for a way to get all of the ingredients and instructions to fit on various sizes of cards in a simple and organized fashion. I’m excited about your new set, Nichole, and I’m looking forward to using it personally and creating gifts for others. For starters, I could fill a recipe box with menus and recipes for holidays and special occasions….with special memories (and maybe a photo or two)!

I am in love with this recipe set. I am always asked for certain recipes from friends. It would be great to already have several of my “regularly requested” recipes stamped and written so I could just hand them out when asked. We are doing a cookie exchange at my church this Christmas. I will definitely be making recipe cards for everyone using this set! I can’t wait for the 15th to get here.
I am fascinated with this concept. I have always liked having hand written recipes but am often frustrated by not having enough room on the standard sized card and box.
I can see utilizing these for family gifts, wedding showers, house warming gifts, etc. I may start now and collect some family recipes to do a few in a more masculine feel for my nephews.
I L-O-V-E-I-T!!!! I love, love, love cooking and this set totally fit my needs because I can never find a set that has EVERYTHING!!!! I am soooo excited!!! I think even my husband is going to love this set. He’s always asking me to get my recipes organized so he can answer the “What do you want for dinner?” question. With this I might actually be able to get it done.
Oh Nicole this is divine. As well as using it for gifts it would be so handy for our home too. Three of my four sons enjoy cooking and we have recipes scribbled on everything from scraps of notepad paper to the backs of magazines. As well as this there is the problem that lots have of having lots of recipe books but each only containg a few favs. so glad you came up with this.

My best friend is getting married in May and she loves to cook. This would be a great set for her and we could give her recipes at her bridal shower! I can’t wait for it!
I love to bake and do a lot of home canning spagetti sauce, canned beans, and lots of different jams. The recipe cards are so much more functional than the standard size and the box is so pretty. It would make a wonderful bridal shower gift and all the guests could bring their favorite recipes to put in the box. I love to have the name of the person who gave me the recipe on the card. We have been married for 42 years so looking through my recipes is like a trip down memory lane. Ann Lind

I am always copying recipes for people. Co-workers and friends know I love to cook from scratch and after a gathering they often ask for a recipe. I have often thought how neat it would be to give a gift of a set of my favorite recipes. I also have a small collection of very special recipes handed down to me by grandmas, Aunts and special friends. It would be so neat to make a special set of these for my own family members to carry on these special recipes and memories.
WOW! I have needed to do something about organizing my recipes for years! This is just what I need to get me going!
I’ve always wanted to duplicate a box full of recipes from my Grandmother, for myself and my sister-in law. Some of the recipes are at least 80+ years old and are fading with each passing year. Just holding them and reading my Grandmother’s writing brings her brightly back to my memory and heart; she was such a huge role model in my life growing up 🙂

THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL!! – much classier than my scaffy (broken) black plastic index card box. Oh, this is just perfect! I love to cook and *inherited* my Grandma’s box of cut out recipes and bits of paper when she got too old & frail to cook anymore. For ages I’ve been trying to find the perfect way to transfer all of these treasures into a cohesive system and now you’ve gone and solved all my problems!!!! Then once I’ve transfered all the recipes I can keep the originals in the old metal tin she had them stored in as a treasure for future generations without the risk of spilling stuff all over them. You are just brilliant!!!

I have been wanting to put together a recipe box/album for some time with our family’s favorite recipe’s in it and make a second one to put away for my 10 year old son, who loves to cook along with me. This is a beautiful set. I am the baker in the family, and have finally reached the point where I have a handful of “go to” recipes that I am hoping to pass down to my children. I never had that from my mother or grandmother, so I hope my children would like to have that from me.

Oh my…this is perfect! It would be perfect to make for my niece who just moved out of town. She’s a little homesick as well so she can find comfort in the family recipes as well as the cheerful recipe box perfectly sized for a college student!

Wow!! I think this project is amazing!! I LOVE to cook and have over 350 hardcover cookbooks in my collection, magazines everywhere in my house… Bathroom, bedrooms, family room. I collect old cookbooks as well… I think cooking is an amazing art!

Since my youngest is graduating from high school this year, I’m realizing more and more that my kids will soon be setting up their own homes. I really like this, it would be neat to actually get organized with recipes, instead of a drawer full of papers. My kids are grown, but might be something to start for my six grandkids. You always think of the neatest things!!!
LOVE to cook! When I got married, I didn’t even know how to boil an egg. Twenty years has past and now I consider myself a pretty awesome cook, although side dishes are still a challenge for me. It would be nice to get my favorite recipes organized; currently I have dedicated a kitchen cupboard for printouts, newpapers, magazines and books full of recipes.

OH my gosh Nichole this is great. My husband is the REAL cook in this family. He love to cook and have it come out nice and have everyone love it. He will sit and flip through all of his cookbooks to come up with a perfect recipe and then cook it up perfectly. I would love to take all of his favorite recipes from all of the books and magazines and put them in one place for him to access easily. Then he could also keep track of the little changes that he makes to each recipe with out marking up his books. I’m very excited now that you have gotten my brain working this morning. I also have recipes stored in the fashion you have described. I envelopes and all kinds of recipe organizer books since I gave up on recipe cards years ago (for exactly the same reason you were frustrated!) Books are bulky and hard to keep on a work station when someone (hmm,,,, wonder who, LOL) takes up the whole area with ingredients and cooking tools! And I don’t like that they are “pre-organized” with titles and amount of pages in each section.
I can hardly wait to make these for myself and my daughter, whose husband love to cook with her! Isn’t she the luckiest girl ;o)

I think these would work great in my plan to make a recipe box for my family, this box would contain all our family favorites that are served year after year at family functions.
A few years ago I asked my mother to write down her recipes. This was a laborous task as most of them were in her head and she doesn’t measure. My original intent was to make a family cookbook for me and my siblings so we wouldn’t lose her recipes. What a wonderful gift it would be to present my siblings with a beautifully decorated recipe box containing our mother’s recipes. Thank you for this inspiration!

They dream about recipe combinations and menus and setting a table the same way I think about color combinations, paper and gift ideas. While I don’t share their specific love, we have the best time together because I know how they feel, even though the passion is different. Yes, I love to cook, bake, canning, making jams and jellies-the whole thing! I would love to win this set and will use it personally and for gifts. I always give gifts of this kind to new brides. I also am known as the chicken and noodle lady as I make chicken and noodles (homemade noodles and canned chicken that we do ourselves…I say “we” cuz DH does the butchering Ü), mashed potatoes, fresh loaf of bread and a dessert and take to shut ins, new mom’s, or just because.
LOL — I would love to make this exact project for my three best friends who share Supper Club with me. Truthfully, I’d get one done, love it and keep it! I guess I should order an extra box!!!!!

I have participated in workplace showers where each person wrote a recipe on a card, and they were all combined in a recipe box with other gifts. The person then has a remembrance of each person who gave them a recipe.
I am not personally a cook but both my husband and best friend are. Either one would love a box to hold all their recipies in. I think this is such a fun and creative gift that is also practical! My favorite kind to give!

I have been putting off a project that I am hoping to get done by the end of October. You see, my inherited all of my grandmother- in- laws recipes and I have wanted to copy them and put them in an organized fashion for her other granddaughters and now I can get the set and I will have my project under way. The reason I want to finish my the end of Oct. is that would have been their 75th wedding anniversary.

I keep my recipes in a 3 ring binder that I altered but the recipes inside are just the cut-outs from books and newspapers so the inside doesn’t look so great. This would be a good way to organize all that. I cant wait to get them!

I probably love baking more than cooking (although that’s probably because I usually have two little ones hanging on my legs while I’m trying to cook! LOL!) but I do enjoy cooking and trying new recipes.
I would put the recipe box is very good use, organizing my piles of cooking magazines, and random recipes that are lying all over my kitchen! 😉

I am looking forward to seeing the set and cards on the 15th… I love baking and cooking too and the thought that I could make sets of recipes as gifts for people is very exciting..My husband used to bake and he passed away and I get requests all the time for his recipes..so he would be honored to have them presented as a gift!

Wow! I just love the thought that you have put into this whole set Nichole! I enjoy cooking but would love to save all those “mom made” recipes and I think this set would be a wonderful way to do that. I know that this is a must have set – I also have a collection of recipes from over the years out of magazines, newspapers as well as many hard cover cookbooks, but the most valuable recipes I have are from a cookbook my mother had put together. I use this book on a daily basis and needless to say it looks like it…I would love to put together a box for my daughter to keep the family recipes going.
Oh this would be awesome for a family project at Thanksgiving. Since everyone will be together this year it would be wonderful to have everyone write down a favorite recipe to finally have a family recipe collection. I hope I win!
What a GORGEOUS project!! I love the colors you used, how perfectly you altered the box, and that stamp is just PERFECT for recipes!! I really like how it will lay on it’s side in the box with the title still showing at the “top”. It’s awesome!! As for how I would use it – I would use it as you did, and maybe even take one that is decorated at the top as yours is and turn it into a pull-out element of a card that the recipient can keep. Great stuff!!!

I am trying to branch out my cooking skills-trying new things and different things. I too have been collecting recipes-they’re everywhere and this would be the perfect way to get myself organized in the kitchen. I can think of few friends that can use a gift like this also.
This set is a definite must for me with all my recipes like you I may have to have many boxes. This is an excellent gift idea as I have two sons just moving off on their own who constantly call me for their favorite recipes. Hey mom how do you make that sausage gravy I like or how about them peanut butter and jelly cookies maybe you could later include an ease of preparation rating.

I don’t cook much but I can definitely see using that set-up for stamp set organization, ink color organization, endless craft room inventory possibilities….
I love to cook and bake but I am no natural! I use recipes all the time, I even handmade cookbooks last year at my office for a funraiser but I just can’t seem to get mine all together! This would be perfect for me! PS. love the new color! 🙂

What a great set! I’d LOVE to use this for a Bridal Shower! I think I’d ask everyone to bring their favorite recipes and then have them use the stamps and transfer the recipe to the cards. The box would already be decorated to match! FABULOUS!

After several attempts at recipes gone mad boxes, this is perfect, even for an old lady. My daughter will love getting this for her birthday, to say nothing of my granddaughters. My current recipe boxs are gallon baggies, what a mess.

What a fabulous idea! I have a drawer overflowing with saved recipes that are on napkins, paper towels,torn sacks, etc. that hopefully will now be neatly organized. I love the idea of being able to put the headings where they are needed and not have to try and cram information in a too small spot.

I LOVE cooking and am loving this set. I really like to share my love of cooking with friends and family, especially since many of my friends are now done with college and moving in to thier very own houses with no recipes and no cooking utensils! I plan to use this recipe set almost exactly as you have. My sister-in-law is moving out on her own and I had planned to give her papmpered chef items for Christmas and now she will get that AND a recipe box, recipe cards, and some yummy recipes too!!!

Oh my gosh! I am in love with every detail of this! I’m in the process of moving, and as I’m packing things up I’m finding stacks of printed out recipes and random magazine clippings all over the place! I told myself that as soon as I move and get settled in I have got to find a better system and this is it!!
Once again you have come up with an amazing stamp set and the perfect project to go with it. I started some recipe boxes for family last year but haven’t finished them yet because I did not like the stamp sets that were available. No excuses now, I will definitely have to have this set!

This looks really great! I like how you gave thought to actual recipes. So many recipe card stamps aren’t actually practical for real recipes, but your version looks so useful. However, I have to admit to being a little confused about what actually comes in the stamp set – it looks like there are two stamps sets, plus the recipe cards themselves? But, that’s a minor point and I know all will be explained soon enough! Beautiful project! I’m so thankful you share your wonderful contributions this way. I feel like my money is well spent – I actually USE all the stamp sets I buy from PTI!

wow- I see a bridal shower gift- when I got married, all the people at my shower shared a recepie and put it in a box..mine was nowhere as nice as this though. This stamp set would be perfect for that!!!
My husband and I love to cook together, but our favorite recipes aren’t very organized. We spend half of our prep time looking for the recipe we are hoping to make! A set like this would give me just the right kick in the pants to finally organize our recipes and make them a little more “chef friendly.” Thanks for creating such a useful set.

When I saw this I immediately thought of making something like this for my sisters for a gift. I have alot of recipes from my grandmother and mother and would love to share them with my sisters. Making a personalized recipe box with all these treasured recipes would be a gift they would treasure for a lift time and could past it down to their children. thanks for the great inspiration!
Ooooh, I would use it to copy some family recipes from my mother! Then I would copy them for family and friends along with baked goods for Christmas presents. I love that you can customize it for the number of ingredients!
It seems to me that the kitchen is the central most important room in any home…it certainly is in mine. I love cooking, creating, making different recipes for my family and friends. I have my mother’s recipes that I treasure so much. A few years back, I compiled these plus mine and both grandmother’s recipes into a book for each of my three children. I wish I had this set then…it would have added so much to the total project. I, too, have an extensive collection of cookbooks, from all parts of the country, classes of people and just plain good home cooking. Thanks for designing this set and adding it to the collection of stamps to choose from…it will be on my list.

Oh my. I’m drooling over how incredible this is Nichole! As a former caterer and an avid chef, my recipes could sure use a little sprucing up and some major organization overhaul! You were so clever to divide the box up with the foamboard…I like to use a specific pen when I copy out my recipes and it would be a perfect place to keep it. I can see my recipe box being used for generations if it looked this good!

You talked about using them as part of a gift for a bridal shower. What if you used them as an invite like Laruen did. You could also mail them in the bridal invite and then make a recipe box like you and Laruen did or you could lamite them and but them on a binder clip so they could be hung on a hook in the kitchen easily accessabile.

Wow, this is very original. I love all the little recipe card stamps, so you can write it out however long you need it to be, then stamp the appropriate label. Very very cool. I love that you took the time to think this out completely, and make it so useable.

What would (will!?) I do with a set like that? Reorganize and sort my recipes for starters. Then, a project I have at heart, is to make a recipe box for my daughter. She’s only 7 1/2 now LOL! but she loves to cook and I am already thinking about the day that she leaves the nest to be on her own, and I want her to take some family recipes with her, to have recipes passed down to me by my Mom and my Grandmother, that she can one day pass down to her own kids. It would be fun to start this project with her, as she is still a child, so that it will also be a childhood memory for her: her own recipe box that she slowly filled up with things she helped prepare over the years.♥

Call me selfish, but first I would use this to make something for myself. I cut/print out tons of recipes, especially now that we are trying to eat healthier. My recipes aren’t in any order right now, just shoved inside a recipe book. After my box is done, I would definitely use it to make some gifts for Christmas and also for birthdays for the moms in my MOPS group. They would love it! Beautiful box and love the new color too!

For years I have been telling myself that I need to organize my recipes in one place for easy access. Right now I have two binders filled with recipes ripped out of magazines, cut out from newspapers, and scribbled on paper scraps. I also have two recipe boxes with things tucked here and there. My goal is to weed out the ones that I never use and organize the rest in one place for easy acess. After reading your blog today I am super excited to order your new set and get to work. I also enjoy making gifts for those I love so the many cooks in our family will be receiving a new recipe box as well. I plan on making a few for my mother-in-law so that she can fill them with our favorite family recipes to pass on to her grandchildren. I know that it will be a treasured keepsake for all of us since many of our favorite memories are those of us sitting around her table being fed with love.
I love to cook. My dad is visiting and I have been trying dishes out on him, and he is loving them. (My mom passed away last year, so he visits each year). I have been trying to write out some of the recipes for him to take home. I love to write up a bunch of recipes I have that I know he would love, however, he doesn’t have anywhere to keep them in his little place. This would be a great gift for him.
This is so cool! I can tell that a lot of thought and planning went into this! I love the thought of being able to customize my recipe box to match my kitchen. 🙂 I’ve always been a bit disappointed in other recipe sets for many of the same reasons you mentioned. Looks like you solved all those problems and created something super classy and practical in the process. I hope you do add more options in the future. I have so many recipes that I have more categories in my recipe collection. (like cookies, cakes, candy, beef, poultry, etc) It’s easier for me to find a certain recipe that way. Anyway, this new collection is perfect for gifts and for my own kitchen! And you know, those cards would also work for card “recipes”, like a card sketch with measurements. I can totally see a cute box filled with those for a newbie stamper! 🙂

Wow- this is a great set. I like to cook, but I usually wing it a little by the end- lots of room on these cards to add what ingredients I replaced with what… and how it turned out… because zucchini does not always equal pumpkin, no matter how many choc chips you add….

I am so excited about this Nichole! I have a ton of cookbooks with post-it notes sticking out to mark our favorite recipes. My husband always complains that he’d like to have them all in one place instead of having to remember which cookbook to grab. This set would be GREAT for a bridal shower gift! Have everyone that’s attending send you a few of their favorite recipes a few weeks before the shower, and then you can have them all filled in by shower time, and that’s like a “group gift”! I like it when everyone can give a little bit to a gift like that….the bride-to-be will always remember her favorite friends & family when she opens this box!
My son is engaged to be married and this is a great idea to put together for a shower gift for my future daughter-in-law. My son has a few favorite dishes that I make just for him. Wouldn’t it be special to include a little story with each recipe! His absolutely favorite meal is quiche! When he was about 10 years old he filled out a survey at summer camp which asked for suggestions for foods to be served the next year. He responed with “keysh”! I’ve always wondered if they figured out what he meant!

This set just might make me start to write down those creative meals I come up with that I always forget to write down. So that when I want to create a particular meal again, I could just go to my box and the recipe would be there instead of trying to remember just how I did create that dinner masterpiece. Who knows, a certain recipe might just get handed down for generations to come.

This is incredible. I would use this as Christmas gifts for my daughters. They are all away from home at college for the first time. I would love to make them recipes that I have had and prepared for them while they were growing up. I have old recipes that were handed down to me. What a special gift in my own handwriting. I love to COOK, and so does my mother. Recently she went back home where she grew up in Ohio to spend some time with family and found some of my great, great grandmothers recipes. They are ones that have been passed down through the generations and say things like a smidgen or dash of this and that. My mom would really like to make copies of all these recipes and give them to all my brothers’ wives for Christmas. This set would work beautifully for this idea.

I love this set! I have several different recipe boxes and cookbooks that I’ve put together over time, but there is no consistency to the organization. I think this set will finally give me the tools and flexibility to organize all my recipes in a great way. I love to cook, when I got married one of my aunt gave me as shower gift a recipe book made by her, with all my favorite family recipes, it was handwritten and sue even made little drawings by hand for some of the instructions; I love my recipe book. Since then I have allways thougth that this is a wonderfull gift for a dauther, niece or dauther in law with your son favorite recipes; this set would be wonderfull for this
My mom loves to cook and bakes many things for her church (festivals, bake sales, and the like). It would be great to have a set like this to help her “spice up” her donated items!

This is great. I have been on the prowl for a recipe set, but haven’t been able to find one that I really liked. I thought this idea would be so fun. We have so many recipes that we use just for the holidays that have been passed down for generations. I thought it would be a fun idea to put those together in a box, decorated for Christmas, and then make coordinating cards to go with them to write down some of the traditions passed down from generations. That way new members of the family would have the old traditions, the recipes and could add their new traditions. Wouldn’t that be a fun Christmas present for a new sister-in-law? Thanks Nichole. I don’t enjoy cooking very much. However, with this new set, cards, and box I might change my mind. I haven’t ever made a recipe box of my own, because I could never find the right cards to use. Without a “go to” recipe box, I spend a lot of time searching and testing new recipes. A chore I don’t really like to do. Now I won’t have to search and test the recipes all the time. I can write down the ones that are keepers and place them in the box. When it’s time to plan the weekly meals, I can simply go to my recipe box, pick a few and and write a grocery list. I see more cooking in my future now.;)

I have been looking for a stamp set just like this! You’ve thought of everything! I have trouble with the recipe cards that you buy at stores not having enough space to write everything or they just don’t have the titles you would prefer on them. I do love cooking, and so does my whole family. I saw this set and thought it would be perfect for me since I just got married. I was thinking I could take some of these recipe cards over to my MIL’s house, and she could fill out some of my hubby’s fav. dishes. My husband is a real estate agent and gives out A LOT of housewarming gifts. A set like what you’ve made above would be a perfect closing gift for him. And because they’re stamps, they are customizable. So I can use different colors to suit the personality of the recipient.

I too enjoy cooking and baking. I tend to take desserts when we get together with friends. I cannot buy store bought desserts, I just don’t like them. It is much more enjoyable to make it myself.
While organizing my recipes is a daunting task I like the idea of the utensils and a few new recipes. What cook isn’t looking for new and fresh recipes. I had never thought of giving those as a gift but you’re right, a new set of cooking tools is a nice gift…something you wouldn’t expect but would totally enjoy!
I love to cook. One of my favorite past times is reading my cookbooks. I have a whole box of favorite recipes, but they are all loose and scattered. Whether I win this or have to buy it, it is sooo mine!

My mind is reeling with the ways you can use this set, but the two that first came to mind are:
1. I am doing a family recipe book for Christmas gifts this year. As my grandparents have started passing, some of my favorite recipes are ones that they make each year. To keep the traditions going I was going to put together a recipe book – but I think I’ll need to make that a recipe box now!!!!
2. I am in Marathon training right now and I am scouring the internet for recipes to have on hand that are healthy and good fuel for my body and I would love to use this set to make a “Sports Recipe box” The recipes from my family are not so healthy!!!

Very clever! I can see using this for bridal shower gifts and for making keepsakes for my children. I know how much I treasure my grandmother’s recipes, written in her own handwriting, now that she is gone. My ten year old daughter has already asked me to make her a “cookbook” of recipes that we have made together; for her wedding gift from me!!

I absolutely LOVE this! The first one I would make would be for my sister. She is always calling me for recipes that she has either misplaced or would like to have. I also have a stash of recipes either from online or from magazines. What a great way to organize all of the keepers!
I love to cook. I haven’t been doing a lot of it lately because my Husband is deployed to Iraq. But he’ll be home in a couple of months and I can’t wait to start cooking for him. He always loves what I fix and appreciates me for doing so. The kids are happy with some microwave mac and cheese and could care less how long Mommy spent in the kitchen. It’s no fun cooking for them. So I’d love to have this recipe set to use and fill the box with old and new recipes, to cook for my Husband when he returns home.

I like to cook most of the time. Sometimes it’s all about the quickest meal possible with a 9 mo old around, but other times I like to have “gourmet” night with new recipes and even dessert (which we don’t have all the time). Love the new stamp sets for recipes; I could definitely use a new recipe box for myself (I also have too many magazine and computer printout pages). Nice idea about the utensils as a bridal gift–or maybe even for someone going off to college or getting their own place.
Beautiful, just beautiful. Yes, we all need beauty in our life and why not be organized at the same time.

Fabulous recipe box! And, let me tell you, recipe boxes are not that easy to find any more. I did one for my son who was moving out recently (not nearly as cute as this) and had a heck of a time finding a box. Love the size of your cards and how you have thought everything out so well. I think after spending so much time on them I would want to laminate them. So many applications. Do you think the cards are large enough to put a picture of the recipe on as well?
I love to bake and cook too and like you my recipes are all over the place as well. I am happy to see something this. I would rather type my recipies than write them though. I would still use the stamps to customize my typed recipe cards though.

I love to cook and it something my sister and also mother enjoys doing. We actually talk recipes! 🙂 And the happy planning for holidays amongst us three! We are already combing magazines, internet and cookbooks for this year’s Thanksgiving and holiday dinners with much glee.
The first use of this set for me would be a gift to my mother. Yesterday we sat and looked through her old wooden recipe box she bought some 25 years earlier at a garage sale to find a caramel corn recipe for a Halloween party we are hosting later this month. Also in the box was our family’s ice cream recipe along with favorites from my childhood. The recipe box represented so much more than food, but also a link to times past and a relationship weaved through the nourishing and sharing of food. I know my mom would love to have a recipe box and recipe cards that are handmade especially for her.
I also thought what a lovely gift it would be to collect family recipes and give a box with those recipes to each branch of our family one year so we all might have those recipes we fondly recall and then add to them.

What a fabulous idea! The first thing that popped into my head was Christmas Gift! SO neat! And I’m really intrigued by this new color. Something that I would really like for this collection is more specific labels (instead of entrees I would like fish, poultry, etc.). I also really like the two-sided nature of the cards!
This so great!! I have trying to figure out how to organize my collection of recipes that I have gathered. I never could find a recipe card that really suited me. This is perfect and I love to cook especially when I see someone enjoy what I cook. Can’t wait to see what else you have coming out.

I love to cook because I love to eat!!! Have recipes laying all over the place–sure do need some organization. Many of my friends are cooks too so we’re all always swapping recipes but only one is a card maker too! Going to Memories in Bloom Monday hoping to see some of your sets. Sure wish they carried all your stuff–I would be in seventh heaven for sure! Then the poor house definitely!

I think this would be a great idea for someone hosting a wedding a shower. They could send the recipe cards to all the invited guests and then the new bride would have a whole bunch of recipes to put in her new recipe box!

This is really practical and beautiful and would make the perfect gift for a bridal shower. As a mother of all boys I can see this would be a perfect gift for future daughter-in-laws of favorite family recipes that a particular son likes.
I can imagine using this set to create bridal shower gifts for many, many years. I’ll never have to wonder what to buy the future bride again. I love it!
My favorite good-bye gifts as a military wife to give and receive are recipes. Not only do you give something you love to make, but they will think of you everytime that they make it. It is a good reminder to stay in touch no matter how often we move! This set will help me make those good-bye gifts for old friends and welcome gifts for new friends!

Oh My goodness! My recipe CUPBOARDS (plural) are SUCH a disastor area – they need MAJOR work. I have cookbooks galore — tons of them – and cardboard files of loose newspaper clippings, ancient recipes, and well-spattered hand-written directions. My goodness this would be a life-saver 🙂 What a great idea!
I don’t cook very often but I love finding new recipes to try during the holidays. I’ve been wanting to start my own receipe box for awhile. Right now, my favorite recipes are just stored on my computer.
I have often thought that I would love to be more organized with my recipes. What a wonderful way to do it and have the finished product be beautiful!!

I’m all about the food. I would use this to give my family my Grandmothers recipes. She is 93 and still cooks for us when we visit. There are many family recipes that need to be passed down from her and I can see using this to make my Aunt, my sister and my sister-in-law (not to mention myself) a collection of Grams recipes!

This is, by far, the coolest and most practical recipe stamp set I have ever seen!! I’m chef trained and have always cringed when I had to use those traditional 4×5 recipe cards and end up resorting using a notepad to write my recipes in. Imagine my delight when I saw the recipe cards you designed and my reaction was “FINALLY!!!!” Cannot wait to get my hands on these! You are a true talent!

I love this set. I think that it would make a wonderful gift to give to my daughter who loves to cook, but only after I had gathered recipes from my grandmother, mother and myself.
This would be a perfect set to make a gift for my husband…he’s the cook in our family, and has tons of recipes scribbled on scratch paper stuffed in an ugly notebook. Let’s clean it up a little!!

All I can say is WOW! I am in awe of this set. This is just the kick I needed to get my drawer full of clipped recipes in order so I can stop digging and start using them. Once I finish mine I’ll be able to make them for gifts too.

I’ve been looking for the perfect gift for my soon to be sister-in-law…and now I think I found it. I’m thinking I’ll use this and make a special thanksgiving recipe box for my brother and Meg, since this will be their first thanksgiving together as a married couple. I’ll include all thanksgiving-specific family recipes so she has something to start off with for their own family thanksgiving.
Ohh – guess I’ll need to pick up First Fruits to go along with this!
