I have always been fascinated with quilting, but upon recent completion of the novel "The Quilter’s Apprentice" by Jennifer Chiaverni, that fascination has developed into something more. This book is only the first in an extended series based on a group of women who refer to themselves as the Elm Creek Quilters. I am really looking forward to continuing with the remaining books in the collection and I highly recommend them to you too! I think some of the reasons that quilts & quilting harbor so much interest is the precision & love that goes into each piece and the impressive attention to detail. The art form also connects all of us to our heritage in such a special way, since our ancestors participated in the craft.
…………………………………………………………………………………….
Because I don’t have as much free time as I would like and yet felt a strong desire to do some quilting of my own, I decided to reinterpret the craft into the mediums I am most familiar with, paper & ink. Quilter’s Sampler stamp set was such a pleasure to design and is so incredibly versatile & fun to use. The set contains a total of TWELVE authentic popular vintage quilt blocks, each chosen for their special meaning and the history they hold. The quilt blocks are all scaled to perfectly coordinate with a 3/4-inch square punch, which we should have available for this release!
……………………………………………………………………………………
One little tip that I have found to be helpful with this new set is to stamp each of the quilt block patterns a half-dozen times or so and punch them out, storing them all together in a little envelope with the storage case for the stamps. This way, you can pull them out and experiment with different patterns & combinations before actually moving onto your project! One additional thing to keep in mind is that you don’t NEED to even build a quilt with the blocks. They can be used alone as focal points, or you could even assemble three in a row with separate matting for another option.
……………………………………………………………………………………
I decided to create a nine block accent for my first project. I stamped all of the blocks I desired, colored the designated areas with Copic V01 and went back in and added a slight outline of RV11 for some depth & definition. One of the EXCITING things about playing with this set is ALL the amazing color combinations you can create within each of your blocks. You can have them coordinate any of your favorite patterned papers or the recipient’s favorite colors! If you really wanted to get detail oriented, you could even do some intricate paper piecing with patterned papers or even bits of fabric! SO many possibilities! After coloring them, I simply punched the blocks out and inked the edges with Frayed Burlap Distress ink.
……………………………………………………………………………………
When assembling a quilt with these blocks, it is easiest to adhere all the blocks in place on a piece of scrap cardstock, starting with the center block and working your way around….
…………………………………………………………………………………..
and then trim around the edge of the quilt. After completing this step, it is easy to center the quilt on a card front or add matting or layers.
………………………………………………………………………………….
I chose to mat my monochromatic quilt using the square Nestabilities & Sweet Blush cardstock. The card background was created with one of my all time favorite sets, Polka Dot Basics stamped with Sweet Blush ink. The outside edges of both the cream layer & scalloped layer were sponged with distress ink as well.
………………………………………………………………………………….
As you can see here, I added a few extra special details to help carry through the homespun feeling I was trying to achieve. I added small french knots with embroidery floss to the four corners of the center block. I personally liked the clean lines of the french knots, but you could also use standard knots with exposed frayed ends, just like those used in some quilting techniques to this day.
………………………………………………………………………………….
A little hand-stitching and a knotted heart button help to build a nice border at the bottom of the project and help to add balance to the overall design. This sentiment is one of my favorites, and so appropriate for the quilting theme. I just have to add how INCREDIBLE the sentiments are overall for Quilter’s Sampler. In fact, I created so many that I loved, I insisted on an additional Quilter’s Sampler Sentiments set. I am just beside myself waiting to reveal them all to you, because I just know you will fall in love with them as much as I have. Sentiments are so important because they help to tie your image to your card and allow you to utilize the images for almost any occasion without any extra effort. This is always one of my goals when presenting you with a set, and I promise these sets will not disappoint!
Quilter’s Sampler & Quilter’s Sampler Sentiments will be such awesome additions to your stamp collection and I can assure you that they will be something that you turn to often. It is an absolute JOY to work with and I am anxious to see ALL of the amazing ideas you will come up with on your own when using this set once it arrives at your door!

I LOVE IT !!!! I was hoping for a quilt set.
I have never been more excited. Just this weekend I was looking at a poster I have hung over my bed of Amish Quilts and wishing I had some quite stamps. It is as if you read my mind.
I also have a guest room decorated with Amish items and an authentic Amish quilt. This set will help me make some framed art for the room.
Nichole – I am in love!
I am amazed how you can design something based on a craft that has been around forever and yet make it look brand new. So beautiful and heartfelt!!!
OMG – I LOVE IT!!! I am sooo excited, so many options with these stamps. THANK YOU!!!
I love to sew and have done a little quilting; like you, it’s hard to find the time. Those quilting story books are awesome – I’ve read them all!
I just finished the latest Elm Creek book yesterday – the books are THE BEST! I’m so excited to have a stamp set to match. Thanks for your awesome design talent!
Very nice! First of all, I love your products and your blog!!
I bought the Quilters Apprentice for my MIL (she is a long time quilter) last year and she has gone on to read 3 more in the series.
I can’t wait to order the set so I can make cards for her and some of the other ladies in my family. My MIL is in dire need of some pretty stationary and my daughters and I will have a great time making her some with this set.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! My Mother would absolutly LOVE cards made with this set!! And….I’m going out tomarrow to get her that book!
This is so GORGEOUS!
This is such a cute idea for a stamp set. I love your sample!
Wow. This is the most amazing set from PTI, ever!
Oh boy…I’m in trouble. I can already tell! This is gorgeous and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that greeting.

I already have the credit Card on stand by.. Love this set and the possibilities it holds!!!
Nicole I love this set! I can’t wait to play with this one. Your card is so soft and pretty.
Fabulous card, Nichole–all in the details! I finished reading the first book and loved it as well.
Oh for crying out loud Nichole, I just LOVE this set and your sample! You never cease to amaze, that’s for sure! Truly excited to buy this set!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, my this is a must have…..I love it…having made quilts over the years, reading The Elm Creek Quilters Series and loving them…..and a friend whom is an avid quilter….I am so excited!
This is such a cool idea. I have several handmade quilts that my granmother made. I can’t wait to get this set. I’ll have to make her a card with it.
Nichole, Well done, I collect antique quilts, some nearly 100 years old, and have them from relatives along with the stories behind them. This set is going to be a BIG hit!! Thank-you!!
This wonderful! I have recently begun quilting, and my mom has been for years! I see some great projects ahead with this set.
Oh my heart! This is totally AWESOME! I love this set…my mouth is in a permanent smile!!! Thanks, Nichole!
Gorgeous Nichole. My friend Nicole who quilts will love this set. Well, I will love it as I can now keep up with her quilting – just mine will be the stamping variety! LOL
K-xxx
Great set! I have done some quilting but time ios a factor. I like the idea of quilting with paper – TFS!
Just re-read it, and I’m so excited…I can hardly wait!!!
When I read what this set was, I didn’t think I would have any desire for it, but when you showed what could be done with it, WOW!!!! I love it. I also read Alli’s sneak peek this morning and as usual, she hit a home run with her owl set. You have the unique ability to hire just the right design team. Congrats on making PTI such a success.
Cheryl
OMG Nichole. This set is going to be amazing. I cant wait to get it into my hands. -Molly B
Just perfect … my mother, sister and I all quilt so this couldn’t be better for us. Thanks for your wonderful work and foresight!
I really like the quilt set so far, I like to sew and would really like to make a quilt, maybe I finally can, ON PAPER!!! Like the saying that you used and also that Lauren used. Love it!!
Wow! This card brought tears to my eyes. My grandmother quilts and taught me to quilt (though what I know would fit in a thimble compared to her). I will be taking my family to see her in August and MUST make her a set of cards before I go to let her know I cherish our time and quilting passion together. Now, how much is overnight shipping?? 😉 Maybe I’ll pack now and stamp later???
Impressive! I am not a quilter (or a color-er generally speaking), but you just may have me with the sentiments. SO clever!
I LOVE this idea. I had wondered what else you would come up with to compliment your Guide Lines set—-I’m seeing all sorts of ideas ahead! I can’t wait to see the whole set!
love the books and love the stamps you came up with …it’s a winner! D
Definitely getting this set!
Oh, my, goodness…. This is just gorgeous! Not only a pretty set but one that’s fun to play with!
Hugs!
I am reading those books right now, too!! I am super excited for this set and can’t wait to play with it!
*gasp* Killer GOOD stuff!!!
Beautiful set. Can’t wait ’til it is available.
It is a perfect set. I wish this set had been out years ago. My Grandmother was a quilter. She made a quilt for each of us grandkids when we got married. She has passed away now, but I still have the quilt and blanket that she made me. She would have loved a card made from this stamp set.
Beautiful!! I can’t wait to see more!
This card is beautiful! I can remember making a little log cabin quilt when I was in 4-H (a long time ago!). Can’t wait to see all that comes with this set!
Oh, all my dreams have come true….I can quilt and stamp at the same time! Heaven!
LeAnne
Perfection! This is absolutely stunning in every way! TFS! 🙂
Aren’t those books wonderful!! Unfortunately it’s really, really hard to have time for both of my addicitions, stamping and quilting. 🙂 Love, love, love this set!!!!
This is already by far my FAVORITE Papertrey set! I am going to order this set the moment it becomes available – THANK YOU from a passionate quilter!!
Wow I love it! Of course pink is my favorite color and it is perfect for this card!!!
OH MY GOSH! I was a quilter long before I got into stamping … I can hardly wait for this to come out!
OMG! You’re so talented and so creative! This set is awesome!
Nichole, I think this set will be my favorite. I used to watch my grandmother quilt and this stamp set will always be a great reminder of her. Thanks for designing this set.
I love this! I can’t wait to get my hands on this set. Quilting is also something that I love to do but don’t have as much time to do it as I would like. I am anxious to start reading The Quilter’s Apprentice. Thanks for the suggestion!
First off, you’ll love all of Jennifer Chiaverini’s books…I’ve read them all and every one is a great read! Just this week a friend and I were playing with Guide Lines and being quilters, we saw quilt patterns in the combinations we were creating. Now you’ve come up with a perfect quilting set…I don’t even have to see the sentiments (I know they’ll be wonderful)…this is in my shopping basket on the 15th!!!
What can I say? Your work is incredible! I am a quilter as well as a stamper, and I can’t wait to get my hands on this set. Thank you so much for all of the beautiful stamps sets and for your inspirational projects. Now, should I quilt or stamp today? Maybe a little of both!
Oh WOW! Quilting is my first (crafting) love, so I will SO be ALL over this set! I can’t wait to see all of the sentiments!!!
I love this. How great to be able to combine two fun hobbies.
Awesome! I have always wanted to quilt but don’t have the time or the patience..maybe one day when I am an old grandma… 😉
Bringing quilting to our stamping world is a brilliant idea! I LOVE it! 🙂
Back in the days when I sewed for a living, I never got into quilting too much. Now I can fulfil my quilting desire with this new set. Thanks Nicole for all your hard work and fabulous inspiration for us to use.
Oh Nichole, I looooove it! What a great idea and what a BEAUTIFUL card!!!!
THUD!!! That was the sound of my jaw hitting the counter. This set is amazing and you hae outdone yourself in creating it!! I absolutely love it!!
Nichole – you’ve done it again! I’ve been telling myself I don’t need to buy anymore stamp sets for a while, and then you come out with a quilt set. I’m a quilter … so I HAVE to have the set – right??? It looks awesome!
GENIUS strikes again!
May I just give you my order now?! WOW! Not only do I NEED to own this set, but I can see buying multiple sets to give as gifts. This is a truly unique and beautiful set! I can’t wait to see all of the sentiments. You never cease to amaze me, Nichole.
I LOVE this new set! My grandmother, mom and I are both quilters (she more than I since I like getting my fingers inky too), and I am so excited to own this! Not only will it make some beautiful cards, but I can totally see myself using it to inspire future quilts! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
I can’t thank you enough!! I love the quilted look but am not a seamstress by any stretch of the imagination! However, I do hope to learn to sew on my cards. That’s my next “technique” challenge. So… thanks “sew” much for this set. I’m looking forward to trying it out 🙂
WOW!! Love the quilting theme! Can not wait to get my hands on it! Jessie
Oh my gosh! I LOVE this! I have an aunt who used to quilt. She had to quit due to failing eyesight. I also have a SIL and a good friend who quilt. Yippeeeeeeee Can’t wait to make cards for them.
I love this set!!! I can’t wait to get it. I am also a quilter so it will be a great set to make a card to along with the quilts I make for others. Thank you, you are simply amazing. I will have to pick up the book also.
Very detailed! I love it!
OMG I love this I can’t wait! What you did w/ this set on your card is precious. Wonderful. Thanks
Now this is my kind of quilting!!!!
This is a must have set!! I just started quilting about a year ago, so what a fun way to incorporate quilting with my card making. Love it!! Can’t wait til the 15th!! 🙂
Such wonderful details and a great idea. Thanks for the tips.

Nichole: You never cease to amaze me! This is so fun & your card is just lovely. I know so many women who would love this.
I’m not a quilter, I can’t even sew buttons! But, your sample is just GORGEOUS!!
I’m loving all teh sneak peaks I’ve so far!
Love this quilting squares set Nicole!
What a wonderful idea! I have to get this stamp set for my sister-in-law, and of course one for me. You are so Kool Nichole!! You have such creativity that appeals to the masses of craters!! Although, you are not helping my budget. I no longer buy new clothes, shoes, and purses – I buy stamp images and embellishments of clothes, shoes and purses. :o)
Thank you!!
Take care and STAY POSTIIVE!

Hey girl–You are so awesome. Our minds have been running along the same track. I have been thinking about using the “quilting” idea for some of my cards. You have hit the spot! Can’t wait to get your new idea ordered when it becomes available. Keep up the good work. Lu
Nicole, I just found your blog and it is amazing. I love this stamp set and can’t wait to purchase it. Credit card is on stand by! Please let me know when it will be available.
Beautiful! I have ideas dancing in my head already.
Way too cool. Now does each of the quilt squares by chance work with my already purchased Guide Lines? If so, we are in TROUBLE!!!
xoxox
Love this stamp set Nichole! It will be perfect to do up a card for my grandmother! She is a quilter!
Love this quilter’s stamp set so much!!!! When will it be available to purchase on line? My church quilters group will go apes over it once I buy it & show it to them…..
This set will be a big hit to a lot of people!! Thanks so much.
Nicole, I love, love, love the Quilter’s Sampler! Now I guess I’ll have to break down and purchase some Copic markers!!
I LOVE this!!!! I love to quilt as well – and this is perfect!!!!!
Thanks!
Candi
Oooohhhh how absolutely gorgeous! What a wonderful project. Thanks Nicole, you are the BEST.
Can I know how you get the idea?
Tq.
Best regards
lai
Awwwww, Nichole! How great is this? I don’t know how you were able to keep this under your hat, but glad you didn’t “spill the beans” at the Maine PTI gathering ’cause we would all be wanting our own set yesterday! This is great, (did I repeat myself?)and it will be in my shopping cart first thing!
WOW! This set has so many uses! I can’t wait! And my best friend is a quilter so I can see myself using this set a lot for her! I’m so excited!
Absolutely darling creation! Beautiful!
I love quilts and the stories that they tell. I know that this will be such a versatile set and the sentiments look so full of love! Any quilt is a work of love as well as art. Your sneak is absolutely darling. You continue to amaze me with your talent. You are incredible!!!! Thanks for sharing!
WOW! Looks like another must-have set from PTI…can’t wait for the reveal.
oh boy!Yet another wonderful idea. I love quilting very much. I helped my MIL open her shop in Cali and enjoy quilting as well as stamping. Can’t wait!
Long before I was ever a stamper I was a quilter! I LOVE this set!
Wow did everyone have the same idea I too went to my local quilt store this past weekend and have been thinking this whole week about which stamps I already have that vcan be used to make a quilt pattern. I am really excited to see this set set. Beautiful work.
Oh, Nicole! I almost cried when I saw this set. I have been wanting a set to create “quilts” for so long. This set will allow me to explore a whole new area of creativity that wasn’t possible before. Thank you!
While I love all the stamp sets PTI has, this one has me over the moon. I quilt (when I find the time) and both my daughter and daughter-in-law have taken up the craft as well. Can’t wait to see the entire set! This one is absolutely PERFECT! Thanks!
I love this! And I love what you did with your card…I really like the color combo you chose.
Charmaine
S T U N N I N G!!!!! TFS.
Gorgeous Card!!
The colors are fabulous!
I just love those Quilting
squares!! I definately want this set.
TFS
I love love love your card! I love quilts! I wish I could sew better, but its probably a good think I can’t.. I have enough craft hobbies! This is a great stamp.. I have so many friends and family that do quilt! So many possibilities.
I love it! I recommend the books too even if you don’t quilt. I belong to a quilt guild here for the friendship and they are trying to get me to actually quilt something. This set will be perfect for when I need a card for some of my friends. One is moving away in a few weeks and she sat me at her machine and almost had to put my foot on the pedal to start the machine. I was so nervous I would break it let alone just screw it up! Our project was paper piecing a heart. How appropriate is that? Anyway, can’t wait for this set! It is a must for me. Thanks so much for all your creativity!
Where can I purchase these quilt stamps?
I’d love to order a set of the quilter’s stamps but can’t locate how or where??? Can you point me in the right direction? Your work is absolutely beautiful. TFS
I love it. How can i purchase?
Love this!! I am a quilter and have read all of the Jennifer Chiaverni books to date, but I don’t own one set of PaperTrey Stamps… this may be my first set!!
this the quilt stamp set is going to be a must have – love it!
Mary-Jane
I must have this set! Everytime I think of quilts, I try to think of the history that each square represents. This set is wonderful and so is your card. I love it!!
Wow, I totally adore this quilted card. It’s beautiful.
I am so amazed at the quilters squares. Where of where can I buy them.
I think the Grandmother’s Fan quilt block would be very pretty. You could use lace across the top.
Ready to begin reading book 3 of The Elm Creek Quilt series. Am loving these books! One of these days I’m going to make a PaperTrey order and the quilt stamps will be a must. Got the mailbox set in Clarksville at “your” LSS and just love it! If the quilts had been out then too I would have snached it up in a second.
Just stunningly sweet! Love the French knots! :O) mel
Hi, I have been inspired to buy one of the quilters books on my kindle, as I’m going away for a week tomorrow and will be bereft without the ability to quilt properly, so thank you. I also love the quilt card, it is beautiful. – Suzy
